LANs connect computers within a small area like a campus, building, home or school. They use Ethernet or Wi-Fi technology and have data transfer speeds of 10-1000 Mbps. Each node on a LAN has its own computing power and can access shared resources like printers. Unlike WANs, LANs have higher data speeds, cover a narrower area, and do not require leased telecom lines. Common LAN devices include servers, client workstations, network interface cards, routers, and switches. LANs can also be categorized by their physical topology such as point

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Good Afternoon everybody, let me introduce myself, my name is Endras and here, in this
occasion I want to tell you about LAN. I’ll describe you about the definition, function,
device, characteristic and also the implementation.

Local Area Networks usually abbreviated as LANs are computer networks whose networks
only cover small areas; such as campus computer networks, buildings, offices, in homes,
schools or smaller. Today, most LANs are based on IEEE 802.3 Ethernet technology using
switch devices, which have data transfer speeds of 10, 100, or 1000 Mbit / s. In addition to
Ethernet technology, currently 802.11b technology (or commonly called Wi-fi) is also often
used to form LANs. Places that are provides a LAN connection with Wi-Fi technology
commonly called a hotspot. On a LAN, each node or computer has its own computing power,
in contrast to the concept of a terminal dump. Each computer can also access resources on the
LAN in accordance with the access rights that have been set. These resources can be in the
form of data or devices such as printers. On LAN, a user can also communicate with other
users by using the appropriate application. Unlike the Wide Area Network or Wide Area
Network (WAN), the LAN has the following characteristics:

1. Having higher data speed

2. Covers a narrower geographical area
3. Do not need telecommunications lines leased from telecommunications operators
Usually one of the computers in the computer network will used to be a server that manages
all systems on the network that.
LAN Network Device :

 SERVER, server is a hardware that serves and provides various client needs.
 CLIENT WORKSTATION
Client Workstation is a hardware device that functions to request and receive data or
communication on a server network.
 NIC (NETWORK INTERFACE CARD)
NIC (Network Interface Card) or commonly known as Lan Card, this device is very
required to be needed as a network connector for connection to the network. There are
several types of Lan Cards including Ethernet, ARCnet, Token Ring, and FDDI.
 ROUTER
Router is a hardware device used in a computer network to share protocols to the
client network. Its function is almost similar to a switch, if the Switch is only used to
connect several computers and form a LAN (local area network, while the router is
used to connect between one LAN and another LAN.
 SWITCH
Switch is a network device on a computer that connects devices on a computer
network by using an exchange packet to receive, process and forward data to the
intended device.

LAN type based on physical architecture or network topology :

Based on network topology Local Area Networks can be divided into several types, namely:
Point to point, Star, Ring, Bus and Tree, Mesh.

I think thats all about my presentation, thankyou for your attention and,
