Ans: Because video games directly deigned on computer languages.
C. Give detail answers of the following questions.

1. Write a detail on the types of computer.

Ans: There are three different types of computers based on their operations. These three types
of computers are:

Analog Computers

Analog Computer is a computing device that works on continuous range of values. The results
given by the analog computers will only be approximate since they deal with quantities that vary
continuously. It generally deals with physical variables such as voltage, pressure, temperature,
speed, etc.
Digital Computers
On the other hand, a digital computer operates on digital data such as numbers. It uses binary
number system in which there are only two digits 0 and 1. Each one is called a bit. Here 1
denotes the presence whereas 0 denotes absence of the signals or current.
Hybrid Computers

Hybrid computer combines the desirable features of analog and digital computers. It is mostly
used for automatic operations of complicated physical processes and machines. Now-a-days
analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters are used for transforming the data into suitable
form for either type of computation.

13

2. Explain the special purposes of computer with examples.

Ans: Special purpose computer are used for only specific task. Mostly computers are used by
doctors, engineers, students, teachers etc. ECG computers, CT scan computers and ventilator
computers are used to diagnose the present stage of the disease. Some special computers are used
for weather controlling or weather research; some are used by army for defense purpose.
Special purpose computers are basically based on built-in processors. Programming in these
computers is fed before their installation into the machine. They work according to the buttons
placed on the machine. Some of the most famous examples of special purpose computers are:
 Television
 Digital Camera
 Auto Door Lock/ Opener
 Air Conditioner
 Remote Control Toys

B. Write short answers of the following questions.

1. Which printers are normally used by home users?

Ans: Ink-jet printers are normally used by home users.

2. Which printers are used by offices?

Ans: Laser printers are normally used in offices.

3. Which printers are identical to laser printers in many ways?

Ans: LED/LCD printers are identical to laser printers.

Ans: There are two basic types of plotters are: Flatbed Plotter and Drum Plotter.

22
Teacher Resource Pack Guide Computer 4

C: Give detailed answers of the following questions.

1. Describe the main categories of printers.

Ans: The main categories of the printers are following:

Laser Printers: Laser printers operate by shining a laser beam to produce an image on a drum.
By using a combination of heat and pressure, the ink on the drum is transferred onto the page.
Laser jets and other printers created by new technology are more expensive and more commonly
found in the offices.

Ink-jets Printers: Ink-jet printers are capable of producing high quality print which almost
matches the quality of a laser printer. Normally home computer users will use ink-jets as they are
relatively cheap but superior in quality to dot-matrix.

Impact (Dot-Matrix) Printers: Impact (Dot-matrix) printers use a set of closely spaced pins
and a ribbon to print letters or other characters on a page. These printers actually impact the page
to print a character, much like a typewriter. The number of pins, which can vary from 9 - 24,
determines the quality of the print job.
Multifunction Printers: Multifunction printers combine:

 Top-quality color ink-jet or laser printing.

 Plain-paper and PC faxing.
 Color copying.
 Color scanning.
 Telephoning

All in one convenient, space-saving machine. If you work from home or have a small office a
multi-functional device may be ideal.
