Q1) How is the operation of Wheatstone bridge affected by changes in the input
power supply voltage? Would there be an advantage in using a higher voltage?
Ans)
Wheatstone bridge is a method of finding unknown electrical resistance by balancing two legs of
a bridge circuit, one leg of which includes the unknown component. So it doesn’t matter what the
voltage is , as long as the bridge is balanced the wheatstone bridge method is efficient and valid.
And no , I don’t think higher voltage would be an advantage because the very purpose of the
wheatstone bridge doesn’t involve the measure of voltage.

Q2) Wheatstone bridge can be used to determine resistance of resistors made of

a variety of materials. Is it possible to adapt Wheatstone bridge for determining
hot resistance of an electric lamp? Explain your response.
Ans)
Q3) How much voltage needs to be dropped across resistor R1 in order to make
voltage VAB equal to zero as shown in figure? How much resistance must R1
possess in order to drop that amount of voltage?

SOLUTION:
Q4) Is it possible to find the current through a branch or to find a voltage across
the branch using Wye-Delta/ Delta-Wye conversions only? If so, justify your
answer.
Ans)
No , we cannot find the current through or voltage across the branch using the Wye-Delta
transformations only, because these transformations only helps us with the complexity of the
circuit , once the circuit is simplified we need other methods like Node analysis or Mesh analysis
to determine the current through or voltage across the branches.

Q5) Find the value of 𝑅𝑒𝑞 for the circuit given below when the switch is open and
when the switch is closed?

SOLUTION:
CRITICAL ANALYSIS:
The main theme of this experiment is the partial sum of two ideas. One of them is that we have
to grasp the thorough understanding of Wheatstone Bridge then we have to find the unknown
electrical resistance using the Wheatstone Bridge. In simple words first part is application and
implementation of Wheatstone Bridge.
The other parts deals with Delta-Wye transformation. We have to have the concept when it
becomes convenient to use Delta-Wye transformation and how it assists us while solving
complex circuit with a large number of loads. For own satisfaction we also verified our
measurements by simulating them using LT Spice.
