Classroom Policies
• Each Unit of coursework is expected to require 4 hours of effort to
complete all the Unit’s in-class assignments, assessments, and
deliverables
• Homework assignments and other materials assigned are to be
completed outside of Unit hours
• It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of any materials due
during the course
• Cell phones MUST be on vibrate mode during class
• It is recommended Students should purchase a USB flash drive, or
external hard drive of at least 8Gb in size
• Bring a headphone set for any audio material
• School Cancellation (Due to Weather & Road Conditions only),
Willis College will follow the policy of OCDSB when cancelling
classes, if the OCDSB cancels classes, Willis Classes will be canceled.

Instructional Offences

• A student commits an instructional offence if they:


• Cheat on an exam, test, assignment or project
• Commit an act of plagiarism
• Disrupt a class or period of instruction in spite of continuous
warnings to discontinue any act or behavior reasonably judged
by the instructor of the course to be detrimental to the class
• Any student found in violation of these regulations may
be:
• Expelled
• Suspended
• Placed on probation and/or reprimanded
• Awarded an F in the course

• A link to a Share from OneDrive will be emailed


to students at the beginning of the module
containing the Course Outline, Class slides,
Assignments, Quizzes, and Other documents
• A shared calendar will also be sent out so you
can see any changes in the scheduled module

Attendance

• Attendance is recorded in class daily, A sign-in sheet will


be provided for students to sign in
• It is the student’s responsibility to sign in or be
identified as absent for that class
• Attendance can affect your funding for the college
(OSAP, Second Careers, etc.), please review your funding
contract
• An email and explanation is required if unable to attend
class, or if unable to make it on time
• Students are required to schedule all personal
appointments (doctor, dentist, job interviews,
certification exams, personal appointments, etc.) outside
of instruction time

Attendance

• Daily class hours are as follows:


• AM classes: 0800h to 1200h
• PM classes: 1300h to 1700h
• Students are expected to be in class 15 to 30 minutes
BEFORE class begins
• In order to get a full attendance mark, students must
remain until the end of class, or are dismissed by the
instructor
• You will not be permitted to enter class after class
begins (at 0800h or 1300h), if you are late, you may
come in at break (1000h, 1500h)

Quizzes

• A quiz will be provided daily before the lecture at


exactly 0800h, during the first 20 minutes of class.
• If you come in after 0800h, you are late, and will need to
complete a digital quiz for a maximum mark of 50%
• Quizzes are to be handed in to be marked
• A digital quiz will be provided on the Student Share for
studying for exams, and those that are late, or absent
• If a quiz is missed, a digital copy is to be emailed to the
instructor within 24 hours for a mark of 50%
• A quiz submitted after 24 hours will receive a mark of 0

Exams

• All exams will be written on the dates identified


on the course outline calendar
• No cell phones, calculators, or laptops open or
visible on desks during exams, they are to be
put away
• It may be requested that they be put at the front of
the class
• If late for an exam you will only have the
remaining time allotted to complete the test
• Both the instructor and Student Services must
be notified in advance if a student is to be
absent on the day of an exam

Exams

• A legitimate excuse, such as sudden illness supported


by a doctor’s certificate will be taken into consideration
and could afford the student the opportunity to write
the exam upon his/her return
• Absence from an exam in all other cases will result in 0%
on the exam, a failed course, and potentially a failed
diploma
• Given unforeseen extenuating circumstances, Student
Services in consultation with the instructor may:
• Allow the student to retake the course at a later date for a grade
of 70% if successful
• Allow the student to write a supplemental exam for a final grade
of 70% if successful

• Assignments and Projects are to be handed in


before class starts on the day they are due,
identified in the class schedule, and in the
course outline.
• Assignments and Projects must be submitted in
.pdf format, with the following filename format:
• COURSECODE-Assignment #-Student Name.pdf
• Anything not submitted this way will be docked
33% for every offense.

• The assignments are broken down into two


sections or more
• The first, a requirement for a screenshot from your
chapter labs
• The second is for PowerShell
• For the PowerShell section, you are not required to run the
command, but you must provide the full command that
would be run.
• For example, there will be a lab where it will ask you to
create a user using the Active Directory Users and
Computers console. The PowerShell portion of the
assignment would require you to create the user using
PowerShell.
• Not an acceptable submission: (a partially complete
command)
