Software personnel Management

1.Problem statement :-
When we manage software personnel’s manually we will have to maintain the data in a hard
file. In this searching any data is difficult. There may be errors in calculation of salaries and we
require more man power. So the time utilization is more in the manual system.

A new software personnel management system would modernise the activities of existing
system.

 It allows employees to record time card electronically and automatically generates pay slips
based on number of hours worked.
 The administration keep track of all information including adding new employees , dividing
teams for the projects , etc.

2.Software requirement specification :-


i) Objective –

To implement a software for ‘software personnel management system’ it is an interface


between employee and administrator responsible for generation of payment slip. It reduces the
complexities involved in it.

ii) Scope –

Software system allows administrator to manage its employee in a better way.

 It will take a few seconds to find the details of employee and this project details.
 It will also make it very easy to generate statistical data or custom data.

iii) Project description –

The software personnel management system acts an interface between the administrator
and the ‘employee’. Accuracy for all the data entered is maintained in the system through validation
and verification from all the files. It reduces the amount of paper work involved.

Based on work time of the employee the payment slips are automatically generated.

iv) Requirements –

a) Functional requirements :

Login - It is an activity which gives entry to the employee and start work.

Employee details - This is an activity which is used by administrator to view the details
of employee and project team, etc.
Payment slip - This payment module reduces the workload of administrator department by
automating payroll process. This automatically calculates payment based on work time of
employee and various deductions such as income tax.

View salary - The employee can able to view salary details the number of hours worked
per day and total hours spent on project.

Database - The administrator or database manager creates database table for


employees. The employee can change their details, list of all employees salaries are stored in
it.

b) Non – functional requirements -

OS : windows based os.


Front end : .net
Back end : oracle

d) Hardware requirements –

Processor : any processor which supports windows.


RAM : 512 MB
HDD size : 40GB

v) User characteristics :-

Employee - he/she can login to the software and can able to see the job assigned to him
and salary.

Administrator - he/she can login to the software and able to view all the employee
details and salaries. They can also generate payment slips.

Database manager - DB manager can create , update and delete the database.

vi) Constraints :-

The administrator requires a system to information of employee.

vii) Assumptions and dependencies :-

The employee and administrator must have basic knowledge of computers and English
language.
