4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory
A review of the lesson from the previous meeting is made. Learners engage in

unlocking dificulty from the words in the story using context clues.They are provided
7 minutes with follow up questions whic will further lead them in identifying the words'
meanings. Refer to Learning Package on page 44-45 Task 1.
4.2 Activity Here, the teacher reads to them the myth entitled "The Rice Myth". Prior to this,
learners are to think of the possible answers of the comprehending questions about
7 minutes the story which are posted on the board.
4.3 Analysis Discussion on the comprehending questions is made. Furthermore, learners are to
share ideas on the tone, mood, and purpose applied by the writer in writing the
10 minutes story. She'll make a review on the three elements if needed.

4.4 Abstraction Teacher discusses more on tone, mood, technique and purpose as ways of
establishing a purpose in writing among authors. Here, learners also answer the
essential questions: How do ancient Filipinos consider rice as a basic
7 minutes
commodity compared with the present generation?

4.5 Application Learners form groups of 6 members and are given a paragraph from the story.
They are to determine the emotion in that paragraph and apply this during the
12 minutes choral reading. They are given enough time to practice.
4.6 Assessment Anlysis of Learners' Learners present their choral reading. They are rated using
11 minutes Products a specific criteria.
4.7 Assignment Preparing for the new Learners are given sets of idioms and another set of
3 minutes lesson meanings for them to match.
4.8 Concluding Activity
A teacher ends the session with a quote: Have faith,keep praying and be thankful!
