UNDERSTANDING THE STORY OF THE BIBLE FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION (EC 101)

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

During this six-lesson online course (completed in 14 weeks, one lesson completed every two weeks),
you will be guided through the entire Bible in order to have an understanding of the structure, timeline,
and themes of Scripture.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES

As a result of this course, you should:


1. Grow in your understanding of the story and key themes of the Bible.
2. Integrate and apply the message of Scripture into your life in deeper ways.
3. Deepen your love for God as you grow in your appreciation for Scripture.

III. TEXTBOOKS

(Suggested, but not required)

IV. COURSE REQUIREMENTS

It is fair to expect 2–3 hours of work for each lesson. The time will vary if you choose to read the
suggested book 30 Days to Understanding the Bible and complete other optional resources in addition to the
required coursework. This time will include the following activities:

A. Reading Assignments
For each lesson you should read the required reading. You are NOT required to read the
optional reading, but it is highly encouraged and will maximize your learning during each
class session. If you choose to read 30 Days to Understanding the Bible, it is suggested that you
read the selected chapters prior to listening to the audio for each week.

B. Audio and PowerPoints


For each lesson you should listen to two parts of the audio recorded from the previous live
Cover to Cover classes. It is suggested that you print out the PowerPoint slides in order to
take notes as you listen along.

C. Discussion Questions
You should answer each discussion question and respond to at least one other student’s
answer per lesson.

D. Quizzes and Final Exam


The quizzes are for your benefit only, and the questions are taken from the PowerPoint slides
in addition to the required course readings. The final exam is comprehensive and is an
opportunity to see how much you learned during this course!

V. COURSE POLICIES

You are expected to complete the work for each lesson by the beginning of the next lesson. Each lesson
will open at 12:00 am on Thursday, will be the required content for two weeks until 11:59 pm that second
Wednesday night.
