B. Tapped Position Calculation

If hairpin filter self-coupling effect between arms is ignored,
we can know the equivalent circuit, as shown in Fig. 1(b). We
can calculate the tapped position showing in Fig. 1[9]:

C. Hairpin filters
This paper presentes a dual bandpass filter as shown in
Fig.2, where t is the tapped position, d1,d2 are the distances
between two resonators, a a is the distance of two arms in a
resonator, L is the arm length, which is half wavelength in
hairpin filter.
In [5]-[7], the hairpin filter only can fulfill a single
passband, the parameter t was always closed with folding
section, and d1 is always greater than d2. In this paper, we set
tapped position far away the folding section, near the open- (a) d1=0.2mm,d2=0.4mm and d1=0.3mm,d2=0.3mm
circuited ends. And d1 is setted less than d2. The microstrip
length and width of tap are constance to be matched to 50 Ω .
All the microstrip width is 0.75 mm, and a a is also
0.75mm,L is half wavelength 4.05 mm corresponding to
middle frequency 14GHz. By adjusting the parameters
t ,d1 ,d2 ,we can get a dual bandpass filter. Because the filter
operated at a high frequency, we must modify the hairpin
resonator that cutting some triangle structures. Right-angle
sides are all 0.68 mm.
III. SIMULATION AND ANALYSIS
The design and simulation were completed by using
Electromagnetic Field. The substrate is 0.508 mm thick with a
relative dielectric constant ε r =2.2 (Rogers RT/duroid 5880

d1 = 0.2mm, d 2 = 0.4mm and t in left and right are 2.12mm (b) d1=0.4mm,d2=0.2mm

can observe that with the increasement of the arm lengthˈthe

IV. CONCLUSION
A tapped-hairpin dual bandpass filter operating at Ku-band
has been presented in this paper. A new method for designing
a dual bandpass filter has been proposed. The filter has been
successfully designed at the desired specifications. A data
analysis has been done. The filter has small size because of
the compact structure. The high substrate loss cause the
insertion loss drops in the passband.
