Estimation of Bleaching Powder
Estimation of Bleaching Powder
AIM
PRINCIPLE
PROCEDURE
The given sample of bleaching powder is taken in a standard flask and made upto
100ml. 10ml of bleaching powder solution is pipette out into a clean dry conical
flask and 10ml of potassium iodide and sulphuric acid are added. It is then titrated
against sodium thiosulphate in a burette when yellow colour starts fading, 2-3
drops of freshly prepared starch indicator are added and titration is continued till
the blue colour disappears. The titration is repeated for concordant values.
RESULT
The percentage of chlorine in a given sample of bleaching powder is ________.
OBSERVATION:
CALCULATION:
V1*N1 = V2N2
N2 = V1*N1 / V2
V3*N3 = V2N2
N3 = V2*N2 / V3
