    This comprehensive piping checklist is an overview of the documents that must be completed throughout a piping design
    project. During the piping design phase, you can use this as a documentation checklist. A piping designer will use your answers
    to eliminate gaps in your information and give you areas to research and discuss.

    Legend sheet with information on: line numbering system, valve identification, instrument numbering,
    process specific requirements, instrument hook up requirements, etc.
    Every line is numbered and includes (at minimum): size of pipe, fluid code, line sequence number, piping
    materials specification, insulation/ painting/ heat tracing/ jacketing requirement, area number, if any.
    All valves and instruments are identified with a symbol or number and location criteria
    All instruments are numbered correctly
    Nozzles are numbered or list tie-ins (or both)
    Specific requirements are listed: such as slope, spool, specification break, line routing criteria, gravity
    drain, barometric leg requirement
    Continuation to other P&ID’s properly marked
    Any critical notes are included
    Minimum equipment elevation requirements
    Basic equipment requirements including insulation requirements
    Basic HVAC requirements such as vents and drains listed
    Utility requirements

    Preliminary Plot Plan & Equipment Layout Checklist


    Includes the following aspects:
    Functional and process flow
    Man and material movement flow
    Local statutory requirements
    Space management plan
    Hazardous area, Emission, Venting, Flaring, etc.
    Equipment Layout Diagram only:
    Access, operation, and maintenance plan
    Peer reviewed for safety
