CENTRALLY SPONSORED SCHEMES CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEMES

The objectives of this initiative are:
Prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination
Ensuring survival & protection of the girl child
Ensuring education and participation of the girl child
Target group:

Primary: Young and newly married couples; Pregnant and Lactating mothers;
parents

Secondary: Youth, adolescents (girls and boys), in-laws, medical doctors/


practitioners, private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres

Tertiary: Officials, PRIs; frontline workers, women SHGs/Collectives, religious


leaders, voluntary organizations, media, medical associations, industry
associations, general public as a whole.
Sukanya Samriddhi Account Yojana
Launched as a part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
Small deposit scheme for girl child to motivate parents to open an account in
the name of a girl child.
One Stop Centre (OSC) Scheme
Started: 1st April 2015.
Centrally sponsored scheme.
It will be funded through Nirbhaya Fund.

Target group:
all women including girls below 18 years of age affected by violence,
irrespective of caste, class, religion, region, sexual orientation or marital status.

The Nirbhaya Fund Framework provides for a non-lapsable corpus fund for safety and
security of women to be administered by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA)
of the Ministry of Finance (MoF)
Under the scheme, One Stop Centres (popularly known as Sakhi centres) are
being established across the country

A sub – scheme of Umbrella Scheme for National Mission for Empowerment of


women including Indira Gandhi Mattritav Sahyaog Yojana

(PMMVY)
Incentive-based maternity benefit scheme.
Direct Benefit Transfer.

The scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme

Cash incentive of Rs. 5000/- is provided through DBT to pregnant and lactating
mothers for 1st living child of the family
The eligible beneficiaries also receive cash incentive under Janani Suraksha
Yojana (JSY). Thus, on an average, a woman gets Rs. 6,000
Exceptions: The maternity benefits are available to all Pregnant Women &
Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) except those in regular employment with the
Central Government or State Government or Public Sector Undertaking or those
who are in receipt of similar benefits under any law for the time being in force.
POSHAN ATLAS
The MWCD in association with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and
Deendayal Research Institute is developing a POSHAN atlas under POSHAN
Abhiyan.
POSHAN MAAH (National Nutrition Month)

The entire month of September is celebrated as Poshan Maah to take the messages
of POSHAN to the grass root level.

It is an initiative of WCD Ministry and NITI Aayog.

The programme focuses on 8 themes – Antenatal Care, Optimal Breastfeeding


(Early & Exclusive), Complementary Feeding, Anemia, Growth Monitoring,Girls-
education, diet, right age of Marriage, Hygiene & Sanitation, Food Fortification.
POSHAN Abhiyan

POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) was launched on 8th March,


2018 from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan.

The International Bank of Reconstruction and Development of World Bank has


contributed 50%.
Strives to reduce the level of Stunting, Under-nutrition, Anaemia and Low Birth
Weight in
Children from 0-6 years
Adolescent Girls,
Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers
For implementation of POSHAN Abhiyaan the four-point strategy/pillars of the
mission are:
1. Inter-sectoral convergence for better service delivery
2. Use of technology (ICT) for real time growth monitoring and tracking of
women and children
3. Intensified health and nutrition services for the first 1000 days
4. Jan Andolan
National Creche Scheme
Centrally Sponsored Scheme aimed to provide day care facilities for children (6
months to 6 years) of working mothers who are employed for a minimum
period of 15 days in a month or 6 months in a year in both urban and rural areas.

Service is chargeable by the service provider

Rastriya Mahila Kosh (RMK)
Provide micro-credit to poor women for various livelihood support and income
generating activities at concessional terms in a client-friendly procedure to bring
about their socio-economic development.

It was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860.


Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK), established in 1993.
Vayoshreshtha Samman
It is a Scheme of National Awards instituted by the Ministry of Social Justice &
Empowerment.

It was upgraded to the status of National Awards in 2013.

The award is for institutions involved in rendering distinguished service for


the cause of elderly persons especially indigent senior citizens and to
eminent citizens in recognition of their service/achievements.

These awards are presented as part of the celebration of the International Day
of Older Persons (IDOP) on 1st October.
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana
Senior Citizens, belonging to BPL category and suffering from any of the age-
related disability/infirmity Low vision, Hearing impairment, Loss of teeth and
Locomotor disability.

What assistance is provided? Assisted-living devices which can restore near


normalcy in their bodily functions, overcoming the disability/infirmity
manifested. They are free-of cost.

Funding: This is a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Central


Government.

As far as possible, 30% of the beneficiaries in each district shall be women.


Accessible India Campaign (AIC)
Aim: The aim of the Campaign is to make a barrier free and conducive
environment for Divyangjans all over the country.

For creating universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities, the campaign
has been divided into three verticals:
Built Environment;
Transport and
Information & Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem.

Accessible India Campaign is in line with the Article 9 of UNCRPD (UN Convention
on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) to which India is a signatory since 2007.
Accessible India Campaign (AIC)
Assistance to Disabled Persons for purchase/fitting of
Aids/appliances (ADIP Scheme)
Being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
Objective: to assist the needy disabled persons in procuring durable,
sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and
appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological
rehabilitation, by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic
potential.
Implementation: The scheme is implemented through implementing agencies
such as NGOs, National Institutes under the Ministry of Social Justice &
Empowerment and ALIMCO (a PSU that manufactures artificial limbs).

MWCD (Ministry of Women and Child Development) implements


SwadharGreh Scheme which targets the women victims of
unfortunate circumstances who are in need of institutional support
for rehabilitation so that they could lead their life with dignity.
