Fieldwork Experience Level 1


Children and Horses United in Movement (90 hrs)
 Clients ranged from approximately 3yrs- 40yrs
 Provides a sensory based occupational challenge while individuals are on horseback
 Assisted clients with improving gait, core muscle stability, problem solving, and joint
attention amongst other skills
Holland Hospital Outpatient (87 hrs)
 Primarily focused on clients suffering from TBI related OPI’s
 Performed several assessments such as MVPT4, Dynavision, Trailmaking, Slums with
clients and documented results with progress notes.
 Worked with clients to develop goals and return to desired occupations from school
readiness to child rearing customs.
Family Promise (27_hrs/ongoing)
 Work with Social work to help families through the transition of homelessness
 Worked with my fieldwork coordinator to initiate a new program identifying children
five and younger who could benefit from additional in order to be ready for school.

Mary Free Bed Outpatient Hand Therapy (10 weeks)
 Carried out specific protocols based on type of injury/surgery making modifications as
needed
 Completed evaluation and educated clients on course of treatment and expectations
 Worked with clients to develop specific home programs based on client factors and

Mercy Health Inpatient Acute Care (7 weeks)
 Review patient orders and determine appropriate treatment based on medical conditions
and lab values
 Carry out multidisciplinary evaluations/treatment sessions with other therapy disciplines
based on patient needs
 Make appropriate discharge recommendations based on patient needs and abilities
Mercy Health Outpatient Lymphedema (7 weeks)
 Evaluate patients and provide education on the lymphatic system and what the typical
course of treatment is
 Fabricate custom wraps to help patients reduce lymphedema related swelling

IPE experiences
 Pediatrics
○ Worked on a multidisciplinary team with other students to provide a treatment
plan for a pediatric based case. Team members included Physical Therapy,
Special Education Teachers, Social Work, Speech Pathology, and Health
Administration
○ Completed alongside SLP students with a child in their own home. We split up
overlapping parts of our separate evaluation’s and discussed our findings in
person and through a paper
 Adult:
○ Worked on a multidisciplinary team with other students to provide a treatment
plan for an adult based case. Team members included Physical Therapy,
Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Physicians Assistants, Nursing, and Medical
Coding

Events
 Airways Oxygen Expo: Attended a workshop hosted by airway oxygen displaying
different AE and DME to complete ADL and IADL’s 
 Groups: Planned and carried out four group therapies sessions at LifeCircles working on
helping older adults stay out of nursing homes
 IKUS: Gave a presentation and provided hands on training to counselors of the IKUS
summer camp on the importance and skills regarding dysphagia and their campers with
disabilities.
 Harbor House: Worked as a team to create a gradable Christmas craft for adults with
disabilities who reside at Harbor House
 Sensory Saturdays: Engaged with children with different abilities during a respite event at
the Center For Childhood Development
