Course Description:
This course is to expose students to fundamentals IS principles provides a service to students who do not later return to the discipline for advance courses.
Since most functional areas in business rely on information systems, an understanding of IS principles helps students in other course works. In addition,
introducing students to the principles of Information Systems helps future area managers avoid mishaps that often results in unfortunate and sometimes costly
consequences. Furthermore, presenting IS principles at the introductory level creates interest among general business students who will later choose information
systems as a field of concentrations.

Course Goals:

Fundamental of Information Systems has Four (4) Main Goals:

1. To present a core of IS principles with which every business student should be familiar.
2. To offer a survey of the IS discipline that will enable all business students to understand the relationship of advanced courses to the curriculum as a whole.
3. To presents the changing role of the IS professional
4. To show the value of the discipline as an attractive field of specialization.

Teaching Strategies:

The course will utilize varied learning strategies that will put the student at the center of all class activities. This based on the belief that the best way to
learn is to be actively involved in the learning process. It is expected that the student will be responsible of their own learning, because in the end it is evidences of
learning demonstrated and/or presented to their classmates and teachers which will be used as basis for grading.

The teacher will guide and facilitate readings, research activities, oral presentation, discussion, class participation, individual homework, quizzes, group
assignments, organizing class requirements into a portfolio and exams..

The syllabus will be followed as closely as possible and use it as guide in working towards the intended learning outcomes of the course. Attendance is of
prime importance of the course.

Assessment:

Varied evaluation strategies will be utilized to document learning achieved in this course. One hundred percent (100%) is the highest point one can earn
based on the following weights:

Grading System:

Grades will be allocated based on the percentage earned:

On class requirement:

1. Groups are given the time to present their report in front of their classmates for discussion.
2. Every assignment must be done/completed on time.
3. Assignment submitted late will be subject to a deduction of 0.5% per day of delay including weekend.
4. Professors reserves the rights to return projects that do not meet the standards expected from a teacher education student.

On Attendance:
Attendance at lectures is considered an essential part of learning experience.

A student is considered absent if he does not turn up during the class and arrives after the first 15 minutes of the class.

Students who incur accumulated absences of more than 7 meetings of the total class days shall be marked “FAILED”.

Students who are not around are considered present during class provided that he/she obtain the approval for being absent .

Other Concerns:

Students are required to cooperate in every class discussion and activity. Frequent going out of the classroom during class and making unnecessary noise are not
allowed so as not to disturbed other students.
