 Present your ideas in a clear way

 Produce a well-structured paper


EXAMPLE
Write an expository essay on the topic “The Dangers of Uber for
Drivers”.

 Find the key words

o For example, in the above mentioned topic the key words are expository, Uber,
dangers, drivers.

 Do the research and define unknown terms

o For instance, an expository essay explains a topic, using evidence, statistics,


and examples.

 Introduction must include a thesis statement. For example:


o Working as a driver at Uber is dangerous, as the company takes no
responsibility for its employees’ safety, financial risks, and health issues caused by a tight
schedule.

 Create an outline:

o Introduction must include a thesis statement. For example: 


Working as a driver at Uber is dangerous, as the company takes no responsibility for their
employees’ safety, financial risks, and health issues caused by a tight schedule.

o 1st body paragraph:The company has no liability, as the drivers are


independent contractors.Support your claim with evidence.

o 2nd paragraph:The vehicles are maintained at the drivers' expense.Add


statistics to your argument

o 3d paragraph:Working long hours serves as a reason for health problems.Use


examples to support your reasoning.

o Conclusion (restated thesis):Uber drivers face a number of problems,


including safety and financial risks, as well as health issues that emerge due to long
working hours.

 Write the paper according to the outline. Cite outside information.

 Apply formatting and proofread the paper before submission.

Plagiarism is a breach of academic honesty. 
It is NOT tolerated according to our policies and leads to
a FAILED assignment.

Types:
Direct Plagiarism
25% of the paper is a copied section of someone else’s work with no credit to a
source.
Self Plagiarism
Copy-pasted excerpts from previous papers.
Mosaic Plagiarism
Direct quotes comprise 15% of the required word count.
Accidental Plagiarism
Missing citations, fake references.

Don’ts

 Do not include restated phrases without 


citing a source;

 Do not use the copied sections of 


someone else’s work;

 Do not use any excerpts from your 


previous papers;

 Do not misquote the incorporated 


information.

 ALWAYS give credit to a source that

Structure
1 double-spaced page = 300 words

Not meeting the word count will result in a FAILED assignment

Words are counted starting from the first word of introduction to the last word
of conclusion. 
Please, note that the title page, abstract, introduction, reference page, and the
footnotes 
are NOT included in the word count.

Introduction 10%

 Presents a brief overview of the problem/background information;

 Finishes with a strong thesis statement;


 Includes a thesis statement which is arguable and to the point.

Main Body 80%

 Each paragraph begins with a topic sentence further supported with interpreted 
evidence and finishes with a transition sentence;

 Each paragraph should be dedicated just to one idea;

 Each paragraph MUST contain at least 3 sentences and up to 200 words.

Conclusion 10%

 Restates the thesis statement;

 Summarizes key points stated in the body paragraphs;

 Contains NO new information, no references.
