Assignment - 1: Instructions

The document provides instructions for an assignment to simulate an engineering system using MATLAB or SCICOS. Students must choose a system with at least 4 nonlinear ordinary differential equations that is not from a tutorial. A 1-page proposal is due October 3rd describing the system and equations, with approval by October 9th. The simulation file and 1-page report are due October 25th, and a 10-minute viva will be scheduled after.

Assignment - 1

Choose a system to simulate in simulink MATLAB or SCICOS which will

demonstrate your understanding of simulink and will help as a learning ex-
ercise.

Instructions
1. Simulation can be done in either MATLAB or SCICOS

2. Should contain atleast 4 nonlinear ODEs

3. No sample and solved problems from MATLAB and SCICOS tutorials

4. No financial and biological systems

5. Only engineering systems should be chosen

6. Simulation result should be shown which capture system behaviour

Evaluation
1. Submit a small write up on the proposed system upto one page which
explains the problem and include the equations and clearly mention
the reference where the problem is chosen by 3rd October.

2. The problems will be reviewed and approved by 9th October.

3. Submit the simulation file which on executed will generate the results
and a small one page report which includes the system equations, vari-
able names and any assumptions taken by 25th October. The result
need not be included in the report as it can be generated by executing
the simulation file.

4. A small 10 minutes viva will happen in the week after the submission.
The viva slotting will be done randomly so don’t delay submitting the
assignment.
