Lotion Recipes
Lotion Recipes
Mix together petroleum jelly and water in a small bowl. Since the petroleum jelly is
denser and thicker, you’ll want to thin it out a little before trying to mix together the other
ingredients. The water helps thin it down and make it mix easier with the other items.
You may want to reserve some of the water for later, in case you need to thin the mixture
out.
Add the skin lotion and baby lotion into the bowl and beat the mixture until well
combined. It should look like lotion without any streaks from the other ingredients.
Everything should look slightly fluffy from the beating motion.
Turn the unscented lotion into a scented lotion by adding 10 drops of your favorite
essential oil or fragrance. Test the strength by rubbing a small amount on your skin and
inhaling. You may want to add even more oil or fragrance depending on your personal
preference.
Transfer the contents of the bowl into your empty bottles. You might want to write on the
front what’s inside so you don’t forget. If you plan on creating several versions, you
should write on the front of the bottle the scent and when it was created.
Store your bottles in the refrigerator and use when needed. You can keep this anywhere
in your home, but storing it in the refrigerator will prolong its shelf life.
Rum and Walnut Body Lotion
2 egg yolks
½ cup half and half
1 tbsp. dark rum
¼ cup walnut oil
Wide-mouth glass jar with tight-fitting lid
Combine the egg yolks, cream and dark rum in a blender. Blend the ingredients on high
speed for 30 seconds or until the mixture is thoroughly combined and smooth.
Reduce the blender speed to low, and add the oil slowly with the motor running. Let the
blender continue to run for 15 seconds until all ingredients are completely combined.
Transfer the mixture to a wide-mouthed glass jar with a tight fitting lid.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Double boiler (or a pot and heat-proof measuring cup)
Coconut oil
Beeswax
Sweet almond oil
Shea or cocoa butter (optional)
Essential oil
Soap mold
Fill the bottom half of your double boiler with water or put about an inch of water in a
regular pot. Heat the water and allow it to simmer.
Put equal parts coconut oil, beeswax and sweet almond oil into the top section of the
double boiler or heat-proof glass measuring cup. Add 1/4 part Shea or cocoa butter if
desired.
Put the top section of the double boiler in place. If using a measuring cup, slowly lower it
into the simmering water.
Stir the mixture gently until it is completely melted. Remove from heat, but continue
stirring for several minutes until it cools slightly.
Add one teaspoon of your favorite essential oil. Sandalwood, rose and lavender oils all
make excellent additions to lotion bars. Continue stirring to ensure that the essential oil is
evenly distributed.
Pour the heated mixture into a mold. You can buy pre-made molds from soap making
suppliers. If you don't want to purchase a mold, just take a look around your kitchen.
Brownie pans, muffin tins and candy molds all work for soap and lotion bar making.
Silicone molds work best since you can easily pop the bars out when they're done. If
using a brownie pan, you will have to cut the bars into pieces once it has cooled.
Allow the lotion bars to cool completely before removing it from the pan. You can put it
in your refrigerator to speed up the process. Once the bar has cooled, wrap it in plastic
wrap until you are ready to enjoy.
Body Butter
Mix 2 oz. each of cocoa butter and shea butter with 1 oz. each of olive oil, coconut oil,
jojoba oil and beeswax, along with a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil.
Mix all ingredients while they cool using a hand mixer until they are well-blended. Peaks
will form in the mixture when it is ready.
Scoop the body butter into a container for safekeeping once the mixture has thoroughly
cooled. Or, fill several decorative jars to set aside as gifts.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Measure into the heat proof container 1 tsp. of cocoa butter, 1 tbsp. of extra virgin
olive oil, 1 tbsp. of virgin coconut oil, 1/2 tbsp. of emulsifying wax and 1/2 tsp.
stearic acid and place the container in a saucepan of water. Place the pan on the
stove at medium heat. Stir the ingredients constantly until they melt completely.
Remove the container from the heat and as soon as you can, begin to whip the
ingredients with a hand held mixer on medium speed. Once the ingredients begin
to thicken, slowly add 5 tbsp. of rose hydrosol and the contents of two 400 IU
vitamin E capsules. After about 5 to 10 minutes of continuous blending, your
coconut rose body whip should have a thick, buttery consistency.
Transfer your whip into a clean 6-oz. glass jar and store in a cool dark place, such
as the refrigerator or bathroom cabinet. Use your coconut rose body whip within 1
to 2 months.
Bath Cookies
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Cut the cookies out with cookie cutters or flatten balls
to form a cookie shape.
Wrap these in air tight packaging or seal them in an airtight container. These cookies will last
several months maybe longer.
The picture above is of chocolate chip bath cookie. Just sprinkle in 2 tbs of chocolate spinkles or
chocolate chips.
Bath Milk
Mix all the ingredients together well. Pour it into the CLEAN milk bottle.
You may want to paint over any text on the bottle with white paint and just simply write Milk on
it.
*Never recycle containers of any type that have contained chemicals as residue may be left
behind even after cleaning.
*Always sterilize containers and bottles that will contain beauty or bath products.
Bath salts are very easy to make. For a frugal alternative to Epsom salts you can use a fine grade pool
rock salt just substitute the Epsom salts in all our bath salt recipes for frugal pool salt. Just add all the
ingredients together and mix well. Make sure the food color, blends in to the salt or it wont look very
inviting. You can do this by tossing the salt over and over again. Add dried rose petals, or lavender sprigs
for a natural presentation. Add your bath salts to a decorative jar and place a small wooden spoon inside
for a great inexpensive gift.
Bath Salt - Sports Relief
Mix it all together and then cut out with cookie cutters or flatten balls to form a cookie shape.
Add the lemon zest to the top of each cookie before baking.
Wrap these in air tight packaging or seal them in an airtight container as with time these cookies
do go moldy.
Honey & Ginger Foot bath
Add the ginger and honey to a bowl of hot water for a foot soak that will promote circulation,
clear up any head colds and fix your winter chills.
Place the ginger and honey into a bowl of warm water and soak your feet in it for 20-30mins.
Mix all the ingredients together and add your essential oils to the mix.
Peppermint is great for nausea relief and upset tummy's making this a great body butter for when
your sick.
Mix all the ingredients together and melt down over a low heat using a double boiler method.
Once it has melted and blended together pour into a suitable container such as a jar or deep tub.
You’ll need:
First, assemble the bath bombs. Mix all dry ingredients together. In a small dish, melt coconut
oil in the microwave for 15 seconds. Add fragrance oil and coloring if you’d like. Mix in with
dry ingredients. I used a fork to cut in the oil like you would when you are cutting in shortening.
Next, lightly spritz the mixture with your spray bottle full of witch hazel as you mix it. (I think
using your hands works best) You are looking for a consistency of lightly wet sand.
Be careful not to add too much witch hazel, as it can cause the mixture to fizz. When the mixture
holds together easily, you have got it where you want it.
Next, have your cupcake liners ready and pack the mixture into them. I chose to use mini
cupcake liners because I think mini anything is way cuter than actual size.
You’ll want to let these dry before moving onto the next step. At least 15 minutes.
For the meringue, add all ingredients to a bowl and blend with a hand mixer for 5-7 minutes until
stiff peaks form.
Add this to a pastry bag with a star tip and decorate the top of the bombs as you would a regular
cupcake.
Preheat your oven to 350 F. Combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly. You can
form the cookies in your hand or use a cookie cutter. Gently place your "cookie" on an
ungreased no stick cookie sheet. You can sprinkle them then with herbs, large sugar or
salt.
Bake the "cookies" for ten minutes, until they are lightly browned. Allow the bath cookies
to cool completely.
To use, Drop 1 "cookie" into a warm bath and allow to dissolve. Yield: 24 cookies or less
depending on the size of your "cookies."
You can buy your ready made bubble bath from any supermarket store.
If you are going to change the color of your bubble bath then you will need to find a clear bubble
bath to use as the base.
Start by pouring out your store bought bubble bath and placing it into a large clean jug so you
can add the ingredients.
Take your bubble bath base and add your essential oils and the glycerin. Add the food color at
this stage if you wish to change the color.
If you are transferring your bath syrup into a new decorative bottle, then make sure your
decorative glass bottle or jar is clean. If you are using a clear glass then you will be able to see
the glycerin when it naturally separates so keep that in mind. All you do is
Decorate the jar with a spoon or scoop to drizzle it into the bath.

Candy Cane Bath Salts
Empty one bag of Epsom Salts into large mixing bowl. Add 3 cups kosher salt, stir well. Stir in
1/4 teaspoon glycerin and eight drops of eucalyptus
essential oil. Mix well. In second large mixing bowl, empty one bag of Epsom Salts, and add 3
cups kosher salt. Stir well. Add 1/4 teaspoon glycerin, eight drops of eucalyptus essential oil, and
red colorant. Stir until completely blended. Color should be even. Using a 1/2 cup measuring cup
and fill canning jars at an angle, layer salts in jars, alternating white and colored mixtures.

Place the salt mixture into a bowl. Add the drops of your liquid food coloring. Mix very well
with a fork. Add the mixture to a pretty jar, salt tube, or container that has a tight fitting lid. After
a day, you may wish to mix well again to ensure that the oils have blended very well.
Add 1/2 - 1 cup of the salts to running bath water. Mix well to ensure that the salt has dispersed
well in the tub before entering. To keep the essential oils from evaporating too quickly, you can
add the bath salts just before getting in the tub instead of while the water is running. Sitting on
undissolved chunky bath salts can be painful, so make sure the salts have dissolved well before
entering.

For the Bath Salts Recipes -
CAUTION: Essential oils may cause sensitivity to your skin. Oils you should avoid in your bath
salt recipes include but are not limited to: basil, oregano, thyme, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, black
pepper, and bay (Pimenta and Laurus)
Consult your physician before using essential oils if you have high blood pressure, are pregnant
or have other medical concerns.
Mix water and borax together, stirring until well mixed. Set aside. Mix together the almond oil,
coconut oil, honey, and beeswax in a glass measuring cup. Place the cup with the oils-beeswax
mixture in a pan of water (about 1 to 2" of water), making a water bath. Heat over medium heat
until the beeswax is melted (8 to 10 min.), stirring occasionally. When the wax is melted, bring
the water/borax solution almost to boiling (put the glass cup with the water/borax in the
microwave on High for 1 min., or use a water bath on the stove top). Remove the oil-beeswax
mixture from the water bath and pour into blender. Slowly add water/borax to the mixture in the
blender and whip. Allow the lotion to cool completely. The consistency may seem a bit thin, but
it will thicken as it cools. You may add the orange Essential Oil now if you wish. Pour into a
lidded container. To use: massage a small amount into your skin.

Body Spray
Determine what kind of body spray you want to make. Suggested essential oils are
lavender for a calming body spray, sweet orange or lemon for an invigorating body spray,
and peppermint oil for a soothing body spray.
Pour 1 cup distilled water, 1 tbsp. witch hazel and ten drops of the desired essential oil
into the spray bottle.
Screw on the cap tightly and shake the bottle well to mix the oil, witch hazel and water.
You can use the body spray immediately.
To create homemade body spray with essential oil you will need distilled water, unflavored clear
80-proof vodka, and essential oil in a scent or scents of your choice. You will also need a clean
spray bottle that creates a fine mist. A pretty perfume bottle or recycled body spray containers
are excellent choices. Test the sprayer before mixing the homemade body spray to make sure it
creates the ideal mist.
Begin by filling the bottle about three-fourths of the way full with room temperature distilled
water. Next, add enough vodka to fill the bottle about an inch and a half from the top. Add
essential oil, five drops at a time and gently shake the closed bottle to blend the mixture. If the
scent is not strong enough continue to add 5 drops at time until desired scent is achieved.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of beeswax
1/2 cup of almond oil
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/4 cup of rosewater
Directions:
Heat 1/4 cup of beeswax slowly in a double boiler. Add 1/2 cup of almond oil to the
melted beeswax. Stir in 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Mix in 1/4 cup of rosewater and stir until
thoroughly mixed. You can buy rosewater, or make your own by simmering 1 cup of
fresh rose petals in one and a half cups of distilled water for 10 minutes and then
straining the flowers from the water. Pour the hand cream into a container while it is still
hot, as it will become firm as it cools.

Large Amount of Body Spray
Fragrance oil(s) of your choice (Found at your local beauty supply or craft store. Check the
bottle to see if they are safe for the human body).
Step One: Add the Epsom salt and water softener to the distilled water and allow the salts to
dissolve completely.
Step Three: Add one tablespoon of fragrance oil for every 8 ounces of liquid.
Basic Recipe
This is the most basic recipe. From this, you can add more ingredients to get different effects.
2 tsp. Glycerin
¼ cup vodka
To scent the water, pour boiling water over fresh herbs, citrus peels, vanilla beans, flower
petals, etc. Allow the water to cool, and then strain it before using in a recipe.
For a relaxing body spray, use essential or fragrance oils of sandalwood, bergamot,
chamomile or lavender. For a more uplifting body spray, use rosemary, peppermint or
citrus oils.
The best way to store and use body sprays is to pour the mixture into a small spray bottle
after it is made. It is important to shake the bottle before each use. For a refreshing
summer treat, keep your body spray in the refrigerator. Homemade, all natural, body
sprays make a great gift! If you are planning to give the body spray as a gift, it is possible
to ‘jazz them up” by adding 1-2 drops of food color and about ½ teaspoon of
grade glitter.
Blend oils together and massage into pressure points on wrist, temples and back of neck.
One bar of soap to be grated, make a point of using your most favorite soap.
Add 1 cup of boiling water and grated soap into a blender and set it on “whip.”
Add glycerin 1 tablespoon and honey 1 tablespoon and stir it.
Cool the mixture for about 15 or 20 minutes and then again “whip” it.
Add some cold water to make it 6 cups in total.
Whip the mixture once again.
Finally, pour the mixture into a container without closing the lid and cool it.
This is a quick, easy, very smooth lotion that absorbs nicely into the skin. A plant based emulsifying wax
is used. This mixture makes approximately 2 of the 4 oz size bottles. This lotion thickens quickly.
First of all, you may want to select containers with colored caps that remind you of the scent you
made. Wal-Mart carries empty Pet Bottle with different colored caps in their beauty and travel
section. So, I would pick a clear bottle with a purple cap for lavender, as one example.
Heat up 3/4 Cup of Oil of Your Choice in the microwave with 2 teaspoons of Steric Acid and 1
teaspoon of Emulsifying Wax until melted. In a separate plastic bowl with a pour mouth
preferably, heat up 1/2 cup of water of your choice (such as rainwater) in the microwave with a
1/2 teaspoon of Borax (the Mule Team stuff) until boiling hot.
Then use the same plastic pour mouth bowl you boiled the water in and slowly whip in the oil
mixture with a hand blender. Keep mixing until fairly cool. At this time, you can add vitamin e
oil, a little color, fragrance, whatever you consider great stuff! When the lotion seems well
mixed, funnel into pretty plastic lotion bottles. If you are going to take longer than a month to
use this, I recommend putting a touch of Germaben II to body products; they will tend to form
black little microbes after a few months. Vitamin e is a natural preservative and may help.
3/4 cup of the most expensive oils cannot be more than $2. This recipe makes 12 ounces.
Variations:
Once you get the chemistry down, the interplay is wide open. You can use green tea instead of
water or rainwater, or water infused with whatever herb you like. On the oil side, you can soak
the oils in elements such as we do with bee pollen, strain and then use for the oil part. The
possibilities are endless and these variations also apply to Cremes below. For those with Eczema
or Psoriasis, adding 10% of pine tar at the mixing stage may help them tremendously. In that
case, I would use Castor oil as my oil of choice. You can offset the smell of pine tar with
cinnamon or nutmeg.
In making creme, you simply increase the oil to 90% and the water to 10% of the mixture
beyond perhaps adding a bit of beeswax to the oil part when heating. You will still need the
Emulsifying wax and steric acid as described in the oil lotion section as well as the Borax in the
water portion because it is these trace items that make oil mix with water. Beeswax is not
necessary but does help to get a frothy creme. As I stated above in lotion making, if you are
going to take longer than a month to use the final product, I recommend putting a touch of
Germaben II to body products or they tend to form black little microbes after a few months.
Vitamin e is a natural preservative and may help.
Melt these ingredients over low heat. Cool to room temperature. While these ingredients cool,
mix together:
Add these ingredients to the first mixture. Whip together until their consistency resembles
buttercream frosting. Store in a covered jar.
For an earthy and masculine scent, you're going to need to rely heavily on woodsy oils. Mix 1 cup
distilled water, 2 tbsp. vodka, eight drops of sandalwood oil, six drops of cedar oil, three drops of
spearmint oil and three drops of eucalyptus oil in a clean spray bottle. Secure the lid on the bottle and
shake well to mix the body mist.
#2
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons of vanilla extract (can be artificial or pure whichever you prefer. I personally use the
artificial for this, to me it has a stronger fragrance than the pure.)
1 cup distilled water (longer lasting-regular tap water goes rancid much faster)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake. After bath or shower spray all over your body. Mist
your clothes if you like. You’ll smell like vanilla and so will your clothes.
Want to make a spray for your daughter also? Try substituting peppermint extract in place of the vanilla.
Peppermint extract has a stronger fragrance so you may want to use less of it. Start with 1/2 tablespoon.
Add in 1/2 tablespoon increments, up to 3 tablespoons, if necessary until you reach your desired
fragrance.
Be sure to do a skin test to check for any allergic reactions. Spray a small amount on the inside of your
forearm. If any redness, itching, or rash occurs, discontinue and do not use.
Pomegranate Salt Scrub Ingredients:
for a 20 oz scrub:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add more or less of the Virgin Coconut Oil to your suit
your preference. The mixture may seem dry at first, but wait a few hours and then add
more of the coconut oil if necessary. Scrub should be moist, and not too much of the oil
should be floating on top. You can also make an all sugar or all salt scrub if you prefer one
over the other or change the ratio of sugar to salt. Spoon mixture into jar/s and finish with
our new "Semi-Custom" Product Labels.
The Virgin Coconut Oil smells just like coconuts, is very light and absorbs nicely in the skin.
Ingredients:
2 ozs cocoa butter (weighed)
2 ozs natural shea butter
(weighed)
2 ozs mango butter (weighed)
1 teaspoon wheat germ oil
3 teaspoons apricot kernel oil
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
Mango fragrance oil (or any
fragrance oil)
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E. (optional, as a preservative)
Directions:
Add all the butter ingredients to a pan or double boiler on low until all the ingredients have
liquefied. Continue to heat on low for another 20 minutes (do not boil). The continued
heating will help prevent the butters from becoming grainy once solid. Add additional oils
and let set to cool for a few hours. Before the mixture sets, stir or even whip, to
incorporate. Spoon into jars or tins and label.
BODY BUTTER
Ingredients: Makes 16 ozs. (EASY)
Directions:
It's very rich and fluffy much like store bought body butters but without the unnecessary
chemical ingredients. Will add a silky glow to freshly tan skin. Not
recommended for use on the face. Our Shea-Body Butter Base contains aloe vera and a
preservative so there's no need to add one. Shelf life - 2 or 3 years.
This is a creamy, all-over body soap, enriched with soothing pure shea and
mango butters. We've kept ours without any scent, but feel free to add
any scent you wish.
Equipment Needed:
In the meantime, get your oils ready by weighing out 24 oz. of coconut oil and 38 oz. of
vegetable shortening and placing them into your pot. Heat them up just until they melt and
then remove from heat and add the 24 ozs. of olive oil. Stir to incorporate and put one of
the thermometers into the pot to check the temperature. The oils will also have to be
between 100-125 degrees (unless otherwise stated by the recipe you are using). Both the
lye/water mixture and the oils will have to be at the same temperature before incorporating
them.
Prepare your additives. Start with just 3-4 ozs. of essential oil or a combination of essential
oils (blend). *Note- (some essential oil scents are stronger, so use less, some are lighter
and you may add more depending on your preference). Also, measure 1/4 cup of any dried
herbs or flowers (optional). Its best to start simple for your first batch. You can also add 1-
3 tablespoons of pigment (optional) for coloring, pre-disperse in a little liquid glycerin.
Line the mold container that you're using with a piece of freezer paper for easy release. If
you are using our wooden soap mold, line it with freezer paper. How to line a soap mold.
Check the temperature of the lye and oils. When they reach between 100-125°, its time to
"make soap." Slowly pour the lye/water mixture into the oils, stirring continuously. You
may continue to stir using a spoon or switch to the stick blender. Stir or blend in all the lye
and you will begin to see the mixture thicken. Just as the mixture thickens to the point
where you see tracks or "trace" in the soap, add essential oils and any dried ingredients or
colorants. (For swirling color, remove about 2 cups of the mixture and add the colorant to
the 2 cups. Then add that back into the mold and swirl). Continue to stir or blend until you
see designs on the top of the soap (this is known as tracing and can happen in 10-20
minutes depending on the temperature of your mixture). Quickly add the mixture to the
mold. Cover with the lid. *Note* if the soap mixture does not fill the mold to the top, place
a piece of freezer paper on top of the soap and then put the lid or a piece of cardboard on
the container. This will prevent soda ash. Wrap in blankets and place in an undisturbed
area for 18 hrs. Remove the blankets and lid and leave the soap air in the mold for
another few hrs.
You should have a nice hard block of fresh soap which you can now remove from the mold.
Let the block of soap sit for a day to firm up or slice into bars or chunks immediately. Then
place bars in an open box or drying rack for 2 weeks or longer. Don't allow the bars to touch
one another. The soap should be cured completely after 2 weeks, but the longer it cures,
the milder and harder it will be.
Directions:
Cut desired amount of melt & pour soap base into 1" chunks and place into your glass
measuring
cup. Microwave at 20-30 second intervals until all the chunks are liquefied, avoid boiling.
Add your colorant, a small amount at a time, until the desired color is achieved.
Stir slowly to prevent bubbles. If you are using color nuggets, melt a portion along
with your melt & pour soap to achieve the desired shade.
Set aside for a few minutes to prepare your mold/s, fragrance and any additives. Set
your mold on a level surface and be sure its clean and dry. Begin adding your additives
and fragrance (about ¼ - ½ tsp. per cup of soap base) or 1 oz per pound to the melted
soap.
Avoid adding the fragrance while the soap is too hot or the scent may burn off from the
heat of the soap. However, waiting too long will cause the soap to begin to set up and form
a top skin.
Once you have incorporated your additives and fragrance, pour the soap into your mold.
If you have bubbles forming on the surface, spritz them lightly with the alcohol. Let soap
cool for 30 minutes or until firm and remove from mold. Putting the mold in the freezer
for a few minutes will help the soaps release easier. Air dry on a rack or wax paper
overnight
and wrap in cello bags, decorative paper, shrink wrap or saran wrap to preserve the
fragrance.
Tips: Melt and pour soap can also be re-melted with little or no
additives, fragrance or colorants. You can also use found objects as molds,
such as plastic drawer organizers or Jello molds, etc.
1½ oz beeswax pearls
1 oz cocoa butter
1½ oz shea butter
2 ozs. sweet almond oil
1-2 teaspoons flavor oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E liquid (optional, as a preservative)
In a very small pan, add the beeswax and melt over the lowest setting.
Once melted add the cocoa butter chunks and shea butter, let melt, and
then add the sweet almond oil. Heat through, but not over 175°. Add the Vitamin E oil.
Remove from stove and pour into a glass measuring cup for easy pouring
into lip balm containers.
Add the flavor oil, or if you would like to make more than one flavor with
this recipe, separate into different glass containers and then add the
flavor oils to each. Adjust the amount of flavor oil accordingly. Stir flavor oils in and
pour into lip balm containers. If the mixture starts to harden before you have finished
pouring, place in the microwave for a few seconds to re-melt and then pour.
Our liquid soap is a natural liquid glycerine soap with no sulfates or detergents. We also use it
as a natural shampoo. It is mild to the skin and has great natural cleaning power. No need to add
a preservative with this product. Just add your fragrance or essential oils. This is not a concentrate
so there's no need to add water. The base has a light yellow cast and slight olive oil odor and lathers
very well. Ingredients stay mixed.

PV SOAP FRAGRANCE OILS THEY HAVE WOODEN SCOOPS
Melt the hard oils (shea, coco butter and coconut oil*) very gently in a double boiler to 170-
185F. This is not hot enough to damage the properties of the butters. Keep the temp steady
between 170-185F for approximately 30-45 minutes. The steady heat will cause the fat
crystals** in the shea to be obliterated. If you find that crystals have reformed upon solidifcation,
go back and repeat these steps, paying attention to time and temp.
After the 30-45 minutes, add jojoba. The jojoba gives the mixture the soft, melt-in-your-hand
consistency.
After adding the jojoba, pour the mixture into a wide mouth jar. You want the jar wide enough so
that you can stick your hands in there to scoop it out. It smells great -- natural and subtle with no
synthetics. Enjoy!
*In SF, coconut oil is solid. In warmer regions, it may be liquefied in the jar.
**If Shea butter is incorrectly heated, upon solidification it will form little fat granules or
crystals that feel bumpy to the skin. These bumps will melt down when rubbed into the skin long
enough, but they can be annoying and unsatisfactory if added to a formulation that is supposed to
be smooth.
Homemade Whipped Body Butter Recipe
I have chosen the ingredients bellow to make this whipped body butter because they are more
easily obtained locally with out having to order them online. You can find shea butter in health
food stores, dollar stores and walmart even at times or any store that sells soap making supplies.
You will want to heat the Shea Butter up slowly in a medium sized sauce pan until the Shea is in
liquid form add in the olive oil once you achieve liquid form of Shea Butter. Let the mixture then
sit and cool for about 30 to 40 minutes. Do not let it set fully back up though. At this point you
are going to add in the Vitamin E and the Fragrance Oil.
You will now want to use a stick blender to whip the mixture until its very light in texture. It will
give off a "mousse" like consistency. Make sure you have blended your fragrance oil and vitamin
E oil in well. When selecting your fragrance oil, choose something you will like as this whipped
body butter will be an all over body delight.
When you have reached the desired consistency you can spoon your finished product into some
kind of container. I have used everything from glass jars to glad containers. You can use any
type of container as long as it has some sort of lid you will not want to expose this to air for long
periods of time. Do not over pack the whipped body butter or you will defeat the purpose of it
being whipped and light.

fragrance, whip and ice down until desired consistency is achieved. Place in jars and let set for
24 hours. If too hard add more carrier oil if too soft add more cocoa butter in next recipe.
Note: DO NOT ingest. Not only would it taste awful, essential oils are poisonous if eaten. Use
externally only. Also, if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes, ask your doctor
before taking salt baths.
Ingredients:
* Dead Sea Salts would also be great, or any other quality sea salt. Do not use table salt, though,
as it does not contain all of the beneficial minerals that sea salts have.
Preparation Instructions:
1. Take out a large metal or glass bowl (plastic and wood are too porous, and would absorb the
scent of the essential oil), and a metal spoon (again, no wood or plastic). Pour in the Epsom salts
and sea salts and mix well.
2. Let the five drops of red and five of blue food coloring fall spread across the surface of the salt
mixture. Then do the same with the drops of lavender essential oil. Mix thoroughly. This can
take a lot of stirring, since the food coloring and essential oils tend to want to clump together. Be
persistent, and try to break up any clumps that you see. Once there are no longer any clumps of
food coloring (these are easy to spot) you can generally count on the essential oils being well-
mixed too.
3. Now add the cup of baking soda and mix well. The baking soda needs to be added last,
because it works much better if the essential oils and food colorings are spread thin first (they
would clump much worse if added to a mix with baking soda in it).
4. Finally, mix in the dried lavender blossoms. These are added last so that all of the mixing
doesn't beat them up too much.
5. Put the bath salt mixture in an air-tight glass or metal container. You can use a plastic baggy,
but be sure to discard it afterwards, because it will have absorbed some of the essential oils.

This is such an EASY product to make. I’m experimenting with product ideas for a presentation
I am giving to a Beekeeping association on ways to expand their product lines. This one is a
natural!
Weigh first three ingredients into a Pyrex measuring pitcher, or other microwave save bowl. Heat
in the microwave until liquids are warmed and fluid. Mix well, add your Lemon Essential Oil to
the scent level you like (4 - 8 drops for this tiny formula). Pour into a clear PETE bottle with a
flip top or disc top cap. This mini formula makes one 8 oz bottle of Honey Lemon Bath Syrup,
or as I like to call it, Honey Lemon Bath Drizzle. Instructions for use are simply to add an
ounce or so to the running bath water and then luxuriate in this decadent indulgence.
This product will not separate nor will it leave an oily film on your tub. Turkey Red Castor oil is
not only water soluble, but the Polysorbate 20 emulsifies the water soluble honey with the
Turkey Red Castor Oil. This Honey Lemon Bath Drizzle will leave your body lightly
moisturized. The energetic, fresh lemony scent will invigorate and uplift your sense of well
being.
Brown Sugar & Spice Bath Salt
Combine all ingredients and whisk together until well blended, making sure to break up any
clumps of brown sugar. Add 2 tablespoons of the bath salts to a warm tub of water and enjoy.
Store in a clean dry container with a tight fitting lid.
