INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. Answer ALL questions in the order given.
2. Read the instructions carefully before attempting EACH question.
3. Perform the instructions for EACH question in the order given.
4. Report any problems with the computer or software to the invigilator who will, if possible,
grant you extra time to make up for time lost.
5. If problems are experienced in printing your files, you may request aid from the invigilator
or teacher. Printing is not considered part of the examination.
6. After printing, it is your responsibility to ensure that:
(a) All side perforations (if any) are removed.
(b) Continuous paper (if used) is separated into single sheets which are then put
together in the correct order.
(c) Your candidate number appears in the upper right-hand corner of every page.
(d) Each page is correctly labelled with the name(s) of the files being printed.
(e) All pages being attached belong to you.
Failure to comply with these requests could be disadvantageous to you.
7. A diskette will be provided which must be submitted together with all printouts at the end
of the examination. Note that the examination will be marked from the printed output and NOT
from the diskette.
1. The IT Authority has prepared a brochure on interpreting Internet speed. This brochure will be circulated
to all Government organizations.
(a) Retrieve the file named SPEED located on your diskette, and save it as SPEEDl.
(b) Set the page size to letter size (8.5" x 11") with landscape orientation and margins
0.6" around. ( 3 marks)
(c) Divide the page into TWO newspaper columns. Place the paragraph on download speed
in the first column and the paragraph on upload speed in the second column.

(d) Change the heading of EACH paragraph to uppercase and italicize it. ( 2 marks)
(e) Fully justify the text in the first and second columns. ( 2 marks)
(f) Change the line spacing of the second column to 1.5 lines. ( 1 mark)
(h) Insert the title 'INTERNET SPEED'. The title should be TWO lines above the text in
the columns and should NOT be affected by the columns. ( 3 marks)
(i) Format the title such that it is bold, centered and has Arial font of size 20.
( 3 marks)
(j) In the title, change the word SPEED to SPEED2 and format the 2 as superscript.
( 1 mark)
(m) Insert a footer with your candidate number at the right. ( 1 mark)
(0) Interchange the text in Column 1 and Column 2. Save the document again as SPEED 1.

(p) Create a data source file named MEMBERS. MEMBERS will contain the data to be used
in a mail-merge. The data in MEMBERS are as follows:

(q) Retrieve the document named ITA located on your diskette. Insert the merge fields as
indicated by the < > signs in the document ITA using the data source created in part (p). Save
the document as ITAl. ( 2 marks)
(r) Merge the main document ITAl with the data source MEMBERS. Save the result in
MEMLET. ( 2 marks)

2. The Domain Registry for a country has prepared a summary of the number of domains registered in
2007. The summary is given in the spreadsheet named DOMAINS2007 located on your diskette.
(a) Retrieve the spreadsheet named DOMAINS2007 located on your diskette, and save it as
DOMAINS2007A.
(b) It has been decided that the regions, Latin America and Caribbean should be listed as
ONE region named Latin America. Add the corresponding data for the Caribbean region to
that of the Latin America region and then remove the row containing the data for the
Caribbean region. ( 2 marks)
(c) The data for the Middle East region have been omitted. Include the data below as a
new row in the spreadsheet:

(d) Add a column to the right with the heading 'REGTOT' and a row at the bottom with
the text 'DOMTOT' in the region column. ( 2 marks)
(e) Compute the TOTAL domains registered for EACH region and the TOTAL of EACH
type (Com, Org, Net, Biz, Info) of domains registered. Use the appropriate formulae.

(f) Format the column with the totals for EACH region to comma (,) format with 0 decimal
place. ( 1 mark)

(i) Arrange the data in the spreadsheet so that the regions are arranged in DESCENDING
order by the total number of domains registered. ( 2 marks)
(j) Insert a title row for the spreadsheet. The title row must have the text ‘DOMAINS
REGISTERED IN 2007’ and centered across the columns used by the spreadsheet. The
fonts must be bold and of size 16. Insert a blank row between the spreadsheet and the title
row. ( 4 marks)
(k) In a blank area of the spreadsheet, insert the following data and use the appropriate
formulae to perform the computation.
Description Computation
The Government fees are $1 for each Com domain; $0.50 for each Org and Net domain
and $0.25 for each Biz and Info domain. ( 4 marks)
(1) Filter the data for ALL Regions with Com domains more than 5000 and Biz domains
less than 800. Setup the criteria range and the extraction range in a blank area of the
spreadsheet. Insert ALL borders on the criteria and extraction ranges. ( 4 marks)
(m) On the same spreadsheet, create a column chart to show number of Com domains
registered for EACH region. Each column should indicate which region it represents. Save
the spreadsheet again as DOMAINS2007A. ( 2 marks)
(n) In a new worksheet, create a pie chart to show the total domains (DOMTOT)
registered for EACH type of domain. The pie chart should be labelled ‘DOMAIN TYPES
2007’. Each slice of the pie chart should be properly labelled to indicate the type of
domain it represents or a legend should be provided. EACH slice of the pie chart should
indicate the percentage of total domains registered. Save the spreadsheet as
DOMAINS2007B. ( 4 marks)

3. To manage the increasing domains registration, the Domain Registry has created a database named
REGISTRY located on your diskette. The database REGISTRY contains TWO tables named DOMAINS and
REGISTRARS.
(b) In the DOMAINS table, add a field called Cost to store the cost of EACH domain.

(c) Insert the cost of EACH domain using the following data:

(d) Use the REGISTRARS table and sort the data in ASCENDING order by the Domain
field. ( 2 marks)
(e) Arrange the data in the DOMAINS table in ASCENDING order by the Type field and
then in ASCENDING order by the DOR field. ( 3 marks)
(f) Using the REGISTRARS table, find ALL domains whose Registrar is 'Redspider'
from Chase Bank. Display the Domain and Billing fields. Save the query as REGQRY.

(g) Join the tables DOMAINS and REGISTRARS and show ALL domains whose
Registrar is MDT. Display the Domain, DOR, Registrar and Billing fields. Save the query as
MDTQRY. ( 3 marks)
(h) Government has decided to apply a Value-added Tax (VAT) of 10% on EACH
domain registered. Create a calculated field called VAT to store the VAT payable on each
domain. Save this query as VATQRY. Compute the total VAT paid to the government. Save
this query as TOTVATQRY. ( 3 marks)
(i) Create a word processing document named QRYRESULTS. Copy the results of the
queries in parts (f), (g) and (h) to this word processing document. ( 2 marks)
(j) Make a basic report on the DOMAINS table. Your report must include ALL the fields
of the DOMAINS table. Use your candidate number as the title of the report and sort the
report on the DOR field. Save the report as DOMRPT. ( 4 marks)
(k) Make a report to show the Type, Domain, Cost, Registrar and Billing fields. Group
the report on the Type field and sort on the Domain field. Your report should include the
TOTAL cost for ALL the domains. The report title should be "DOMAIN REGISTRY".
Insert your candidate number as the footer of the report. Save the report as REGRPT.
