Servants: The Most Merciful

1) The verse describes people ('Ibad ar-Rahman) who avoid major sins like shirk (polytheism), murder, and zina (unlawful sexual acts). 2) These are considered the worst sins because they corrupt the soul and destroy society. Shirk depends on false objects of worship instead of Allah, murder victimizes the innocent, and zina undermines family values. 3) The pious predecessors viewed even minor sins seriously because sins can harden the heart if continually committed. They sought protection from sins through repentance and making dua, rather than belittling others' sins. 4) To avoid sins, one must strengthen faith, immediately remedy weaknesses

Why are these the sins
2 they avoid most? • They didn’t belittle sins. They viewed minor sins like the most destructive major
sins, since continuous engagement in the same sin may harden your heart.

“Abdullah ibn Mas’ud said: “I asked, ‘Which sin is worst in the sight of Allah?’ • They had a healthy balance of hope in Allah’s mercy and fear of His punishment.
He said, ‘To make any rival to Allah, when He has created you.’ I asked, ‘Then
