Calibration Procedure for Delta4310/4110

Required Equipment and recommendations

• Calibrated Precision Multi-Meter.


• Calibrated CAL4000 calibration box.
• A Computer with all Software loaded from the supplied CD.
• Field Calibrator Standard p/n 670500-1 or equivalent.
• Process takes approximately 25~30 minutes per Control Unit.
• Make sure Firmware and Software are up to date and are installed prior to Calibration and Test.
• Make sure that all HV precautions are observed.

Step A) -Calibration – Control Unit only


(In this step, only the control unit is connected the calibration Box)
 Connect the instrument Test Ground Cable to the building ground
 Connect the instrument Mains Connector to a grounded outlet
 Connect the two instrument Interlock Cheater Plugs
 Connect the Red Measurement Cable to the instrument (make that this cable is not coiled)
 Connect the unit to the PC using a USB cable (calibration can only be performed via USB)
 Connect the CAL4000 Calibration Box to the Control Unit using the HV Power Cable (p/n:
2002-132) and HV Control Cable (p/n: 2002-133)
o Turn on Control Unit
o Start MIX software, then select Maintenance Tab.
o You will need to re-start MIX software if you have just used it to program firmware.
o Press CTL-ALT-SHIFT-S on keyboard to enter “MAINTENANCE (SERVICE) MODE”.
o Under Calibration Menu pull-down check all tests except last 2 boxes (The last 2 tests (D190 and D200) will
require the HV unit in Step B)
o Click START CALIBRATION button
o Follow on-screen instructions for setup connections  Enter DVM voltage measurements (in DC volts) as
required
Note: First shunt in calibration process, 10Ω, may possibly give an error message indicating Inverter has
tripped. Click the Retry button to go again. Now, the program should continue process.
Some of the steps may take several minutes.
o Click “Save Calibration Results” button when prompted.

Step B)-HV Unit Calibration

(In this step, the Control Unit and the HV are inter-connected, and the HV voltage is connected to 100PF
standard)
o Turn on Control Unit
o Start MIX software, then select Maintenance tab.
o You will need to re-start MIX software if you have just used it to program firmware.
o Press CTL-ALT-SHIFT-S on keyboard to enter “MAINTENANCE (SERVICE) MODE”.
o choose Calibration tab, and in Calibration Tasks window select only D190 and D200 ( All others must be
deselected).
Note: Before commencing calibration, ensure that the Delta4000 is setup correctly as follows: Low
Voltage Red cables is and HV cable are connected from the Delta4000 units to the certified 100 pF
standard, the two Interlocks are installed, short ground wire is installed between the two unit’s wing
nut grounds, Main Test Ground cable connected between earth ground and Test ground connector on
Control Unit, Connect HV Power and HV Control cables between the two Units, and supplied USB from
PC to Control Unit.
o Click “Start Calibration” button .
o Follow instructions on the computer (Mix software).
o Select save to instrument at the end of procedure.
o End of Procedure

Step C)-Final Test the unit to verify the calibration process :

Use PowerDB or the Delta control software to take multiple readings in different modes of the Capacitor
Standard used to verify the unit accuracy.
