Best practices when photographing the camera include displaying the small item against a
homogeneous white background to avoiding reflections. With this background, the images
captured will be easier to cut and use later in different applications and options.

For best results, it is important to consider the use of a camera mount or tripod to improve the
sharpness of images and allow longer exposures and attention to lighting.

An effective digitalization can be done with a digital camera with a sensor or a Digital Single
Lens Reflex and by saving files in raw image format or TIFF quality with at least six megapixels.

 Gallery Application: Row of thumbnails with an option of enlarging them with mouse hover.

This application allows the user to see all the pictures available at the same time and choose the
one the user is interested in studying in detail. This is efficient because the image does not open
in another page.

 360⁰ Rotation Application: A window that shows the camera in 360 degrees. Users can control
the rotation allowing a better examination of the camera. The application includes clickable
hotspots to popup content in a lightbox describing the different parts of the camera.

A camera collector is usually very interested in every component of a vintage object of this kind.
Every little difference, for example, between two items from the same model but different years
of production, is frequently the kind of detail collectors are looking for. Using this application,
the collector can easily examine the item with no need to manipulate it.

In case the user is not a specialized collector but rather a person interested in learning about the
object, the option to click on the hotspot to display information about a part and its function adds
value to the digital collection with an interactive learning experience.

I considered the alternative of scanning the camera into a 3D model; however, collectors would
better appreciate being able to study images of the real object rather than a rendered model.

Considering that users navigate between different web browsers and computer systems, it is
essential to choose the most compatible and standard format for text on the web. The simplest
option is to use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) text format with downloadable PDF
documents.

The museum digitalized the camera to the digital collection. Materials may be downloaded and
used for research and educational purposes according to the Canadian Copyright Act.

Attribution 4.0 licence, with no commercial uses and no adaptations for the digital images.
