LETTER OF MOTIVATION
“There were 5 Exabytes of information created between the dawn of civilization through 2003, but
that much information is now created every 2 days.” statement was said by Google’s CEO, Eric
Schmidt in 2010. It has compelled me to constantly think about the volume and variety of data we
generate each day. with digital advancement and increased power of computation, Sky is the limit to
opportunities it creates to solve the real-life problems of industries like Healthcare, HR, Logistics,
Risk Management, Tourism or any other industry that generates data. I feel that we have a huge gap
of the skilled resources who can understand and get something really meaningful and helpful out of
this gigantically large pile of data. Apart from the fact that modern businesses are awash with data,
things that really excite me to be in this field is how a little application of data science can tackle the
most pressing business problems with empowered management teams.
I, Ms. Toral Davra would, thus, like to give a proper direction to my career path from being a Data
Analytics Engineer to becoming a Data Scientist.
I was introduced to statistics and its applications during my first year and basics of computer science
in the second year of high school study that’s when I developed a great interest for these subjects. I
secured excellent marks in the first-year final examination conducted in 2011 and stood 1st in a
batch of 70 students. After successful completion of my school studies in 2012 with 81%, I got
admitted to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, which is one of the reputed universities of the
state. A passion to understand computers and its applications led me to pursue Computer
Applications as my major in the undergraduate program. My undergraduate degree provided in-depth
knowledge about various concepts, where I was particularly more interested in subjects like
Relational Data Management Systems, Algorithms, Data Structures and Object-Oriented
Programming and the same is reflected in my final University grades. I was also one of those few
students who had cleared programming competition arranged by IIT - Bombay (One of the Premier
Educational Institute of India).
Later by the end of 2015, A strong desire to understand the data analytics and its business
applications propelled me to accept an employment at TATA Consultancy Services Ltd., It is the
world's 2nd largest IT services provider by revenue as of 2017. During first 4Months, I was part of
intensetraining program and that helped me orient to the need of the current IT industry and the
corporate world. Post successful completion of training, my first project in Data Warehouse/Business
Intelligence capability was for the medical diagnostic equipment manufacturer company an
American multinational conglomerate based from Chicago, Illinois, which is one of the leading
healthcare equipment manufacturers in the global market and also a subsidiary of global fortune 500
companies.
I was engaged in the program, which was based on an agile model and it required me to interact
closely with the client teams across Europe, U.S., LATAM and India. I have worked on major
components of data analysis, data extraction, and data processing as a Data analytics Engineer.
While I was part of development team, we as a team had delivered an enterprise-wide finance data
re-structure of huge data warehouse built on Teradata and later also worked on pricing analytics for

the client’s Data Lake project. I was honored with Lean Six Sigma Green-Belt Certificate for
building an automated tool that eliminates manual process and saves human efforts and in turns
money for business. which was highly appreciated by clients.
Throughout this time on multiple data driven projects, my interest in the field kept on growing and I
started attending multiple trainings on big data ecosystem and Python/R data science technology
stack, thus laying a sound foundation for my plans for further studies in the field of Data Science.
Trainings helped me in identifying the utility of data science for healthcare equipment’s service type
prediction with the help of text analytics and also helped me in creating a python based automated
tool for identifying enterprise wide impacts of change in the huge existing ODS or EDW systems. I
am thankful for my organization and clients who have awardedme with more than dozens of
appreciations in this span of 3 years.
At this point in globalized business world, I believe pursuing a Master’s degree with a focus on Data
Science would surely add great value to my career aspirations. The fact that Germany is land of
Ideas & Innovation with rich and diverse history, an invigorating culture and fun-loving people
makes Germany an unparalleled study abroad option for me. All of this with free qualitative
education and globally recognized courses motivated me to opt for the International Master's
Program in Data Analytics offered at the University of Hildesheim which is perfectly tailored to my
needs. I look forward to gaining a competitive edge through deepening my understanding of various
statistical and data analytical techniques and upgrading my technical skills through the well-
structured curriculum. I look forward to mutually benefiting interactions with peers from culturally
diverse backgrounds which would help me to broaden my perspective.
Besides study and professional services, I thoroughly enjoyed extra curriculum activities like sports
festival and inter college competitions where I was part of a team who won 2 sports tournament
and ranked second in the IT quiz competition during college time and at the present actively
involving in voluntary work for empowering society by education as part of TCS Purpose for Life
initiative, Where I usually teach and arrange a health checkup camps for underprivileged students in
nearby villages with my colleagues.
I wish to conclude by narrating a quote which I follow, "A dream becomes a goal when action is
taken toward its achievement." and my dream is to be in a role that helps industry address most
pressing business strategic decision problems on basis of my data analytics knowledge. I aspire, to
pursue Masters in Data Science at your esteemed University as for me it will be a step forward in
moving towards my goal.
