CHURCH HISTORY’S TIMELINE (1990-2018)

1990

 During February 1990, Pastor Gil Buenafe of Dadiangas Baptist Church along with Mr. Juanico,
Hazel Demafeliz, and Nono, came to plant a church in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City.

1991

 On April 1991, under the leadership of Pastor Jojo Tayoto, they have organized themselves and
form a church, naming it Christian Fellowship Center with 25 members
 November 1991, they decided to construct a church building then a groundbreaking was made
on November 18, 1991
 Pastor Panes assumed the leadership role since Pastor Tayoto has to go back to DBC.

1992

 Church became independent and was renamed as Faith Baptist Church


 Within the year, the church has a total of 32 members

1993

 Pastor Panes decided to resign as the church pastor – without having a pastor for several
months, the church decided to call Pastor Bodegas
 The church builds a parsonage which was started on March 21, 1993
 Pastor and Mrs. Jessie Magan were sent to Purok 39, Block 2 for an extension work. This
extension work eventually led a birth of church which was named as Grace Baptist Church with
Pastor Jerry Dela Cruz as the pastor

1994

 the church initiated a Sunday school extension classes at Labus, Barangay Fatima, GSC

1995

 the church continued the Sunday school extension


 at the end of the year, the church has a member of 47

1996

 on April 29 to May 3, 1996, the church made a milestone by having their first Daily Vacation
Bible School (DVBS)
 then the church decided to separate the celebration of its foundation anniversary from the
thanksgiving
 July 13, 1996, a baptism was held at Maharlika Beach Resort with 14 candidates baptized
 A bible study point was also organized at Suisa during July 1996
 At the end of the year, the church has 57 members already

1997

 January 1997, an extension class for children was opened at Nasa Village
 DVBS as again held on April 7-13, 1997
 During this year, another 9 members were added to the church, having a total of 66 members

1998

 The church continued it extension class at Suisa


 On April 13-19, 1998, the church again held a DVBC with 63 kids
 November 2-3, 1998, the church launched a crusade at Barangay Bawing, GSC
 Subsequently, an extension church was built at the said Barangay
 The church has continued to win souls and during November 29, 1998, a baptism was held at
Maharlika Beach Resort with three candidates
 Another extension point was also opened at New Bayanihan, Bakar Residence, and Lopez
Residence

1999

 The Baptist men opened their prayer meeting every Tuesday evening
 On August 21, 1999, four candidates were baptized at Barangay Bawing
 The church sponsored a crusade with the International Crusades Volunteers
 On the same year, the church has 62 members

2000

 Pastor Billy Bodegas has resigned as the church pastor on January 31, 2000 and Pastor Juanillo
Vegafria, stands as the in-charge
 When Pastor Vegafria decided to transfer to Malungon, Deacon Bimbo Gallaza, took over as the
church in-charge
 At the end of year 2000, the church has 68 members

2001

 On April 2001, the church called Pastor Hydion Padilla as the host pastor
 The church was able to baptize 21 young people for this year. Thereby, the church have a
number 89 members

2002

 The church supported one of its young people, Pedro Rodis Jr., who studied at SPBTS, Puan,
Davao City
 At the end of the year, the church has now 90 members

2003

 Pastor Hydion Padilla resigned and transferred to Gensan Baptist Church so Mr. Pedro Rodis Sr.,
the chairman of the deacons, became the church in-charge

2004

 Early on 2004, another baptism was held


 On March 30, 2004, the church again called Pastor Bodegas as a resident pastor
2005

 Pastor Pedro Rodis Jr. became an Associate Pastor

2006

 Pastor Billy Bodegas was ordained on December 10, 2006 but two months after his ordination,
he filed a leave for three weeks and resigned on March 2007. So, Pastor Pedro Rodis Jr. took
over as the host pastor

2007-2008

 Another baptism occurred in Sinalang, Tinoto, Saranggani Province with five candidates
 At 2008, the church marked a record of 75 active church members

2009

 The church faced another challenge when Pastor Pedro Rodis Jr. filed his resignation as church
pastor
 Joel Verdad, the chairman of the deacons, took over as the church in-charge

2010

 Later in 2010, the church realized that they need pastoral and directional guidance from a host
pastor
 They consider Joel Verdad and Valintin Pana Jr. as the only option for that post

2011

 The church cast their votes to determine who will be the next church host pastor – Valintin Pana
Jr. was placed as the host pastor while Joel Verdad as an associate pastor

2012

 On this year, the church encountered an increasing population which caused congestion in the
church, to address this problem, Pastor Pana proposed during council meeting to renovate the
church building
 The proposed renovation did not happen according to the plan, instead the Lord provided a new
and bigger church building
 The groundbreaking took place on February 27, 2012 and the building construction was started

2013

 February 23, 2013, another four contenders for baptism were baptized
 FBC were so much proud and blessed when two members and two pastors graduated in the
Seminary Education by Extension conducted by Southern Philippines Theological Seminary
Pastors. They were in the persons of Pastor Valintin Pana Jr., Pastor Joel Verdad, Pedro Rodis Sr.
and Jobe Abing

2014
 FBC baptized eleven people last April at Pacman’s Beach Resort in Tinoto, Sarangani Province
 The church continued organizing and cultivating each member in enhancing their gifts and
talents through Sunday school’s curriculum

2015

 The growth and development of the church did not end when it hit its 24 th anniversary yet it
continue to strive for excellence
 January 10, 2015, Dawn Devotional was established – where the members gather every dawn of
Saturday
 Media Arts Ministry was also re-established
 It was on the month of July where the church took a big step and for the first time in the history,
small groups were launched – an intentional gathering where the people meet regularly for
joining God’s mission – to make disciples across the globe with a goal of Christlikeness, it was
named as Life Discipleship Group (LDG)

2016

 For 25 years of existence, the days of FBC were not just a blissful one but the church also gone
through some circumstances that almost tear the church apart
 But by the grace of God, despites such adversary, the church still and will always stand strong
 For more than two centuries, FBC endures all hardship and keenly linger to bring out its mission
and vision
 July 17, 2016, under the leadership of Pastor Valintin Pana Jr., the church officially relaunched
the started small group or LDG with the goal of producing radical disciples and disciple-makers
