As stated to Presidential Decree No. 603 The Child and Youth Welfare Code;
Article 1. Declaration of Policy -The Child is one of the most important assets of the nation. Every
effort should be exerted to promote his welfare and enhance his opportunities for a useful and happy
life.
The child is not a mere creature of the State. Hence, his individual traits and aptitudes should be
cultivated to the utmost insofar as they do not conflict with the general welfare.
The molding of the character of the child start at the home. Consequently, every member of the
family should strive to make the home a wholesome and harmonious place as its atmosphere and
conditions will greatly influence the child's development.
Attachment to the home and strong family ties should be encouraged but not to the extent of making
the home isolated and exclusive and unconcerned with the interests of the community and the
country.
The natural right and duty of parents in the rearing of the child for civic efficiency should receive the
aid and support of the government.
Other institutions, like the school, the church, the guild, and the community in general, should assist
the home and the State in the endeavor to prepare the child for the responsibilities of adulthood.
In the first statement simply emphasizes that children is the future of our nation that what our
national hero said “Ang Kabataan ang pag asa ng ating bayan” that is why, while they are young give
them a life full of happiness. How can we give that life? by giving them love and affection, sense of
belongingness and time. Teach them values that would shape their minds and always set to be a
good example in their eyes, because the mind of child is like “Tabularasa” by Jhon Locke, meaning to
say empty mind. We fill in their minds the things they have to learn like for example saying “Mama” or
Papa, with consistent teaching later on they can pronounce it. After that they can learn to walk, to eat
alone, to pee , poop, and be independent. Who taught all those? Of course the parents, so the first
learning of the child started at home. The first values taught at home. That is why provide a child with
good foundation of love not anger, not crime, not harassment but love, with that, the child will grow
with love and kind hearted.
When the child comes with the ages where he has to go to school, a parent should send them to a
school that they will entrust their child with. Then the parent will be the teacher, the teacher will just
continue and teach the child formal schooling like writing names, colors, learning to read. The teacher
will help the parents to nurture their child to become a better person when they grow up. The teacher
will impart her knowledge to help the child prepare the real world. Teach them how to think critically
and creatively.
As my personal experienced with this matter, I really love this profession that I choose. I feel worried
whenever my pupils will not come around due to problems at home. I don’t to let them feel at the early
age how struggle the world and life is. Not yet their time to experience that. Sometimes I conducted
one on one conference to the parents so that I will be able to know how is it going on at their house.
With that you can help them solve or even give positive attitude to the parents and learners.
