The Student Conduct and Community Standards Office received a student conduct referral alleging your involvement
in the following incident:
On November 12, 2019, Louis attended a public event at the Fine Arts Center and sat behind Beth Peller. During the
event, Louis leaned in and whispered into Beth’s ear, “I know who you are” and “I am going to put you online and make
you famous.” During the event, Louis began screaming racial slurs at the panel members, resulting in Beth feeling
unsafe. When Beth attempted to move away from Louis, he followed her while filming her on his go-pro camera despite
Beth’s requests to stop filming her.
Since the November 12, 2019 incident, Louis has continued to “dox” Beth Peller on his social media platforms. Beth
obtained a Harassment Prevention Order on November 15, 2019, which Louis violated resulting in his arrest on
November 16, 2019.
Based on the information received, the following Code of Student Conduct policies are under review:
1. No Contact Directive
Effective immediately and until further notice, the student is NOT to have contact with Beth Peller. This includes, but is
not limited to comments, words or gestures in person, through postal mail, email, social networking sites, or by having
others (friends, acquaintances, family members, etc.) act on the student's behalf.
Based on the seriousness of the allegation and/or your conduct history, a responsible outcome in this case may result
in one or more of the following sanctions: Housing Removal Deferred, Housing Removal, Suspension Deferred,
Suspension, and/or Expulsion.
You are cautioned to avoid any action that could be interpreted as an attempt to intimidate or otherwise influence
anyone connected with the incident as these actions could constitute a further violation of the Code. This includes, but
is not limited to, comments, words, or gestures in person, through postal mail, email, text, instant messaging, social
networking sites, or by having others (e.g., friends, acquaintances, or family members) act on your behalf.
The next step in the conduct process is an administrative meeting between you and an investigator. The administrative
meeting is an opportunity for you to review the information received, respond to the allegation(s) and share your
account of the reported incident. During the administrative meeting, you will have the opportunity to provide information
relevant to the incident (e.g., pictures, screenshots of text messages, videos, or written communication). You may
choose to send the information in advance of the administrative meeting to the Student Conduct and Community
Standards Office.
To schedule your administrative meeting, call 413-545-6281 by January 21, 2020. If you fail to schedule a
meeting by January 21, 2020, a registration hold may be placed on your SPIRE account preventing enrollment
in (add/swap) any further courses and the case may be resolved in your absence.
