Almost A Crime, This Editorial Space Is Left Blank On Quaid-i-Azam's Birthday, To Speak More Eloquently Than Words". @dawn News
When Pakistan had lost its eastern wing during Yaya`s Khan regime then as in 1953, the
Dawn editor, Altaf Husain left blank the space for the editorial. The following lines were
scrolled in his own hand: “When the truth cannot be freely spoken, and patriotism is held
almost a crime, this editorial space is left blank on Quaid-i-Azam’s birthday, to speak more
eloquently than words”. @Dawn News: Zaffar Abbas Aug 20, 2017 09:02am

5. Jadhav was arrested from Baluchistan in March 2016 in a joint counter-intelligence
operation. Few days later, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released his recorded
statement in which the naval officer-turned-RAW agent confessed to have been working for
the Indian secret service. Family allowed to meet Jhadav on Dec 25. He admitted that he was
working for RAW, which had given him the task to carryout subversive activities in Pakistan,
particularly in Baluchistan. Jadhav was later given the death sentence by a military tribunal.
India then moved the ICJ, which after preliminary proceedings, issued a stay order till the
case is decided.

12. In 2016, Pakistan was ranked 105th out of 137 countries on the Unctad’s B2C E-Commerce
Index, which measures the readiness of countries to engage in online commerce. This is
actually a drop in Pakistan’s position compared to the rank of 86 in 2014, hence, the urgent
need to address e-commerce issues. As a technology, e-commerce offers a level playing field
to all. Even though Alibaba – Chinese e-commerce giant – does not have an office in
Pakistan, its business is doing pretty well all across the country. According to the Economic
Survey of Pakistan 2016-17, our wholesale and retail trade as a component of GDP is valued
at Rs2,164,404 million ($20.54 billion approximately). From bricks to bytes: the
impressive growth of e-commerce in Pakistan. E-retailer Amazon alone has sales
revenues of around $136 billion, six times of what we sell as a country.
