Short Essay About The Applicant
I loved medical technology ever since I was a child. I remember my younger years when I
would spend time in the clinic where my dad would work, and I would always take notice of the
laboratory in that clinic. The medical technologist who worked there was kind enough to let me
see his work, I saw him use the microscope, centrifuge, and would watch as he would collect
specimen. There were times that I would even be allowed to use the microscope. These are the
times that I truly enjoyed, and this is where I root my fondness or even my passion for medical
technology.
This passion has driven me to pursue B.S. Medical Technology. It has always been my
dream to study in the field of medical technology and I wish to either further my studies in the
field through masters and join the academe to develop my knowledge further or to pursue
medicine. This made me decide to take the B.S. Medical technology program in the University of
Santo Tomas because I knew that I would receive the best education there. As a student, I
persevered through the challenges of this course with my passion and dream in mind. I enjoyed
every lesson of every course regardless of the complexity if it was related to my program. I always
push myself to improve on my deficiencies in any of my courses as I want to be a competent
professional in the future. I see these shortcomings as an opportunity grow and improve. When
I’m not studying or doing my academic works, I enjoy exercising by doing calisthenics at my
dormitory or by taking a jog around the campus. I believe this has instilled a sense of discipline
into every aspect of my life and helped me maintain a good academic standing as my efforts are
never lacking. My concentration towards academics and my passion for my program have been
my driving forces that allow me to keep doing and to push beyond my limits.
Ever since my parents separated, our financial status as a family always worried me. My
father, with the help of my grandmother, have been able to send me and my four siblings to school.
The income has been stable so far but due to my grandmother’s age and the wake of the COVID-
19 pandemic, our income has not been as steady as it has been before. As my sister enters college,
I worry that our current financial status would not be adequate to support me and my four siblings.
If given the chance, I would use the scholarship to the fullest and excel in my studies. The
opportunity presented itself and I wish to grasp it. I believe that my passion would be able to be
realized if given the opportunity.
