Grant Middle School, Grant, Michigan
 Reinforced a positive, healthy classroom culture and established classroom routines
 Co-planned and individually designed classroom instruction with mentor teacher incorporating various
instructional strategies such as structured academic controversy, simulation and cooperative learning
strategies such as jig-sawing
 Differentiated and adapted lesson plans in order to meet the diverse needs of students
 Actively worked with school counselor, grade-level and special education teachers to ensure students’
academic, emotional, social and behavioral needs were met
 Communicated with guardians regarding student progress and our classroom virtually as well as in-person
at various meetings and parent-teacher conferences
 Created a school-wide paper recycling program that made recycling accessible to students and staff in
classrooms and designated areas
 Established a “Recycling Club”, composed of twenty-three 5 th and 6th graders, who met once a week to
collaborate on several recycling initiatives
 Participated in professional development, featuring topics such as creating relationships with students,
technology-use within the classroom and “Protect Young Eyes”
 Partnered with the high school civics teacher, Lance Stray, to observe two hours weekly within his
classroom
 Taught two full days of instruction in Lance Stray’s civics classroom featuring a mock Supreme Court
ruling and close reading strategies on the role of the vice president

 Designed and taught whole class lessons in an eight grade U.S. history classroom utilizing Understanding
by Design framework
 Strengthened classroom management, as well as, learned how to assist the needs of students with

assistance in clarifying and simplifying lessons
