Operational Feasibility

A feasibility study was conducted for developing an online food ordering system. The existing manual food ordering system is time consuming and inefficient. The proposed online system would allow customers to order and pay for food online through a website. It would also give the restaurant management better control over their menu and visibility into orders. A cost-benefit analysis estimated total development costs of 3.8 million pesos and annual operating costs of 102,750 pesos over a 10 year period. The estimated return on investment is 107.25% based on anticipated lifetime benefits of 10 million pesos, making the project economically feasible.

1. As how you have understood, define in your own words the term feasibility study.

 FEASIBILITY STUDY is the analysis of an idea or a proposed project to determine if it is

viability of being successful in technical, economic, and operational aspects.

2. Explain why making a feasibility study is crucial in systems development.

 Since developing a new ITpIS project is difficult, complex, and time consuming, feasibility
study is needed to determine if economic viability and the investment advantages will
outweigh the risks involved in developing a system.

3. Differentiate the types of feasibility study.

Operational It assesses how well will the project workp solution to a problem in the
Feasibility organization. It understands how well the new systems will fit into the
current day-to-day operations of the organization.

Schedule Feasibility It assesses the duration of the project whether it is too long to be
complete before it is useful. It helps in identifying time constrains in
finishing the project and how much time will be needed to finish a
project.

It determines whether the proposed system conflicts with the legal

Legal and requirement or not.
Contractual
Feasibility
Political Feasibility It measures how well a solution to a policy problem, will be accepted by
a set of decision makers and the public. Political feasibility analysis is
used to predict the probable outcome of a proposed solution to a policy
problem through examining the actors, events and environment involved
in all stages of the policy-making process.

Economic Feasibility It measures the net benefit of a project in terms of money. It analyses
projects cost and revenues.

4. Why is it important to conduct costpbenefit analysis?

 Costpbenefit is important because it estimates and totals the equivalent value of money
of the benefit receive from the project over it costs and provides rational comparisons
and analysis for the project. It is can also determines when will the project be profitable.
5. How do you write a Feasibility Study Report?
1. Writing the Project Description
- a collective background about the project
2. Describe Possible Solutions
- perform an alternatives analysis and make a description of possible solutions
for your project
3. List Evaluation Criteria
- set and define evaluation criteria for possible solutions.
4. Propose the Most Feasible Solution
-write writing a feasibility study report is to determine the most economically
reasonable and technically feasible solution
5. Write Conclusion
- summarizing the projectvs aim and stating the most feasible solution.
ACTIVITY.
Write a Feasibility Study Report for a System Project that you would want to consider developing. Make
necessary and appropriate assumptions for you to have the Cost/Benefit Analysis.
1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
- Computer has become part of the life for accessing almost any kind of data. Living in the
21stcentury is full of technological advancement and in this technological age it is very difficult
for any organization to survive without utilizing technology. The world wide web contributes
greatly to the creation of an ever & Increasing global information database. It could also be used
as a mechanism to share information within an enterprise. Online food ordering system is
needed in this sector. Online food ordering system is the technique of ordering foods online.
The user can simply login using his) her username and corresponding password and then order
foods to be delivered to his) her specific location. Through Internet services administration will
have access of online information about key factors.

2. Describe Possible Solutions

-The existing system refers to the system that is currently being followed by the food deliveries.
Presently all the functionalities are done manually. If customer wants to order an item, he
should visit the cafe, order food items & pay for the items and get the food items slip. Then he
should go to the food counter to get the food taking the bill. By then only we can get the food.
This makes the person quite difficult and tedious since they must stay in the queue. The main
disadvantage is time consuming and it makes difficult for the manager to know the customers
history.
The proposed system’s objective is to overcome all the limitations and drawback of the existing
system. The online food ordering system is user friendly web application. The main objectives of
the system are its simplicity of design and ease of implementation that shows and helps to
collect most of the information about food services. The system requires very low system
resources and the system will work in almost all configurations. The data can be retrieved easily.
The interface is very user friendly. The data are well protected for personal use and the data
processing is very fast.
3. List Evaluation Criteria
The structure of the system can be divided into 3 main logical components: • Web Ordering
System- provides the functionality for customers to place their order and supply necessary
details. • Menu Management-allows the restaurant to control what can be ordered by the
customers
• Order Retrieval System-This is a final logical component. Allows restaurant to keep track of all
orders placed. This component takes care of order retrieving and displaying order information.
