Simple Stresses and Strains Stress Strain Diagram - Ultimate Stress - Yield Stress

This document outlines the objectives and units of a course on Strength of Materials. The objectives are to learn fundamental concepts of stress, strain, and solid deformation; load transfer and induced stresses in beams; the effect of torsion on shafts and springs; and analysis of plane and space trusses. The course is divided into 5 units that cover topics such as stresses and strains, load transfer and stresses in beams, deflection of beams, torsion, and truss analysis. The units total 45 hours of instruction. Several textbooks are listed as references.
