WORKING DRAWINGS:
Working drawings, Structural drawing and Bar Bending schedule will be submitted to the
Engineer prior to start of work at site. The design and drawing of complete framework will be
submitted to the engineer before the engineer takes up any erection after approval of the above,
setting out will be started.
5:SOURCE OF MATERIALS
5.1 Course Aggregate : Maximum nominal size of course of Aggregate for various structural
Components in PCC & RCC shall conform to Section 1700.
5.2 Fine Aggregate : All the fine aggregate shall conform to IS:383 and test for
conformity shall be carried out as per IS:2386
Necessary reference Points shall be fixed, away from the one of blow or possible settlements
resulting form well sinking operations, such reference points shall be connected to the
permanent thedeoalite stations with the base line on the banks. The center of the individual
wells shall be marked with reference to these stations. The distance, wherever practicable,
shall be checked with the help of accurate taps and precision distomat. Reference points shall
also be fixed to mark X-X axis (usually traffic direction) and Y-Y axis (normal to X-X axis)
accurately.
A temporary benchmark shall also be established near the well foundation, away form the
zones of blow-ups or possible settlement. The mark shall be checked regularly with respect
to the permanent benchmark established at the bridge site.
6.2.1 Necessary machinery like Cranes, Crabs, Chisels, required for sinking of wells
6.2.3 The Well shall be uniformly seated at the founding strata. Test boring that the
properties of the soil encountered at the founding strata and loose materials will be cleaned, shall
ensure it.
7:DESIGN, ERECTION AND REMOVAL OF FORM WORK
The design and drawing of the complete formwork will be approved by the engineer, before
Use. The design of the formwork shall conform to provision of IRC:87. It shall ensure that the
Form can be conveniently removed with out disturbing the concrete
The Scheme for removal of formwork shall be planned in advance and furnished to the Engineer
For scrutiny and approval. Cantering shall be gradually and uniformly loudered in such a manner
as to permit the concrete to take stress due to its own weight uniformly and gradually to avoid
any shock or vibration.
8: STEEL REINFORCEMENT
8.1 General: The work shall include providing, cutting, putting in position and binding
reinforcement steel bars of the shape and dimensions mentioned in the drawing and conforming
to the specifications and I.S Code
8.2 Bending of Reinforcement: The bar bending schedule shall be prepared as per approval
drawing and got approved by the engineer before start of work. Reinforcement steel shall
conform to the dimensions and shape given in the approved Bar bending Schedule Bars shall be
bent cold to the specified shape and dimension or as directed by the Engineer, operated by hand
or powder to obtain the correct bend and shape.
8.3 Placing of Reinforcement: The reinforcement shall be placed in position in accordance with
approval drawing. During between placing of reinforcement and pouring of the concrete shall be
maximum. The bar, crossing one another shall be tied together at every intersection with 16
gauge binding wire to percent reinforcement getting displace layers of reinforcements shall be
separated by spacer bars at approximately one mater interval.
8.4 Splicing of bars:- All reinforcement shall be furnished in full length as indicated on the
drawing. No splicing of bars, except where shown on the drawing, will be permitted without
approval of the engineer. The length of the splice shall be as indicated on drawing or approved
by the Engineers. Lapped slice shall be staggered or located at points, along the span where
stress are low.
Concrete shall be carried out as per ‘MOST’ clause 1700 which will be briefly as under:
9.1) General: The work includes producing, placing, laying & curing of concrete in accordance
with specification and conformity with lines, grades and dimension as shown in the approval
drawings.
9.2) Materials: All the materials such as cement, sand and crushed metals shall conform to
relevant IS specifications. The materials shall be tested in the filed laboratory or any other
approved laboratory.
9.3) Grade of Concrete: Different grade of concrete shall be used as per approved mix design
9.4) Proportioning of concrete: Prior to commencing any concrete work, design of nominal or
design mix shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval. If required water reducing
admixtures may be added subject to the approval of the Engineer. The mix shall have
Consistency. Which allow proper placement and consolidation.
9.5) Mixing, transporting, Placing and compacting of concrete: Concrete shall be mixed at
batching plant and transported with the help of transit mixer. The concrete transported to site
will be placed in the formwork by manually or the combinations of crane & bucket or line pump.
If chute is used for placing of concrete, it shall have slope so adjusted to avoid segregation of
indigents. Chute should be thoroughly washed before and after working. During concrete, plastic
sheets/tarpaulin are kept standby to cover, if is any chance of sporadic rainfall.
9.6) Curing: curing of concrete will start immediately after final setting of the cement takes place.
Exposed surface of concrete shall be kept in damp condition in different position, continues
manually operated pumps etc will do wetting.
Precautions
1. Spare set of vibrator shall be kept in standby
2. In case the concreting is likely to continuous beyond daylight, generator set and fold light
shall be checked and available at site.
3. The temperature of concrete while pacing should be between 5 0C to 40 0C.
Site Records
All Concrete delivery note including the slump Test results and the structure
components / Location where placed
Record of cube test results3
Weather Condition (Temp & Rainfall)
10. BEARINGS
The bearing shall be used for POT/PTEE only. The bearing shall conform to IRC-83(Part-III)-
2002 and ‘MOST’ clause 2005, regarding Tensile strength as per clause of MOST.
11 EXPANSION JOINT
The work shall include fabrication and placing of expansion Joint as indicated on the drawing and
conforming to the specification or as directed by the Engineer. Poly sulphide joint sealants with
bituminous fiberboard shall be provided.
