Meta-Cognitive Reading Report Template

This meta-cognitive reading report summarizes key points from readings on the philosophy of sex. The report identifies three significant learnings: that some see sexuality as naturally bonding people through pleasure; different types of communication impact satisfaction in relationships differently; and sexual activities can be physically or psychologically risky. It notes some unclear topics and asks questions about why some are unsatisfied with their sexuality and how communication impacts health outcomes.

Module/Chapter #: 2.3

1. (3) Things that I significantly learned from the readings/video clips

1. Metaphysical sexual optimists suppose that sexuality is a natural

bonding mechanism that happily joins people together both sexually
and nonsexual. Sexual activity involves pleasing the self and the
other at the same time, and these exchanges of pleasure generate
both gratitude and affection, which in turn deepen human
relationships and make them more satisfying and emotionally
substantial.
2. Different types of communication are important for a variety of
different types of sexual partnerships. Findings from this study
suggest that communication is an important component of sexual
satisfaction in both committed and casual sexual partnerships, but
through potentially different mechanisms.
3. Sexual activities can be physically or psychologically risky,
dangerous, or harmful. Which includes infection of viruses like HIV
and other Sexually Transmitted Disease.
