Computer Assignment by DANIA ARIF

This document contains a student's answers to 5 questions about computer networking topics. For question 1, the student lists several factors to consider when choosing a network topology, including budget, growth, hardware availability, ease of implementation, reliability, and future expansion. For question 2, the student identifies bus topology as using a backbone that runs the length of the network. For question 3, the student states that a hub or switch is usually at the center of a star network. For question 4, the student explains that if a node fails in a bus-wired network, the entire network will not function properly. For question 5, the student provides three main advantages of a star network: point-to-point connections through a central hub

ASSIGNMENT N0: 01

NAME: DANIA ARIF

ROLL NO: 27
DEPARTMENT: BIOTECHNOLOGY
SUBJECT: COMPUTER SCIENCE

Answers to the brief questions:

Question no.1

What should you consider when choosing any network topology?

Answer:

As many factors are responsible for network topology, but for the proper
deployment of network there should be following factors:
 Budget
 Network growth
 Hardware resources availability
 Ease of implementation
 Reliability
 Future expansion
Question no.2

Which of the following network topology contain a backbone which

runs the length of the network?
Answer:

The computing devices are interconnected through network topology. These

network topologies run the length of networks as the backbone, called bus
topology through LAN (Local Area Network) where different nodes and cables
are interconnected.

Question no.3

What piece of hardware usually at center of star network?

Answer:

At the center of star network, there are multiport connecting devices “HUB” or
a ‘SWITCH” which have different features but mostly switches are used.

Question no.4

What would happen to entire network if one of the nodes in bus-wired network
failed?
Answer:

If one of the nodes in bus-wired network failed it will not perform the functions
properly as all the nodes are connected to same cable for the flow of
information.
Question no.5

What are the main advantages of star network?

Answer:

Main advantages of star network:

 In star topology, the computers are connected by a central hub. All devices
on network are connected with hub through a communication link. Each
computer requires a single wire for the connection to hub.
 In star network, there is point to point connection between a hub and a
node. In this way any information gathered by hub, it conveys it to other
nodes in a network.
 The hub in star topology works as a central storing device/ server as it
manages and control the whole function of network.
