YOUTH FOR ENVIRONMENT IN SCHOOLS

ORGANIZATION (YES-O) ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
School Year 2018-2019

I . Introduction

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) serves as an avenue to

educate the minds of the young and intensifies their heart in protecting and preserving
Mother Earth. Annually, the organization is painting the town green because we believe that
it is the color of life and it symbolizes nature, health, growth, harmony and freshness.

Department of Education (DepEd) Order no. 72, series of 2003, establishes YES-O as
the only co-curricular environmental organization in schools. It was established to increase
global concerns for environmental actions against threats to Mother Earth and to
consolidate all in safeguarding, protecting, and conserving the environment for the
generations to come.

II. Accomplishment

As part of the Organization’s action plan, teachers, officers and members participated in
different environmental programs and activities for school year 2018-2019. In line with this,
the organization proves that the strength of unity and camaraderie matters in accomplishing
the set goals successfully.

 The first conducted activity was a meeting held last June 11, 2018. It
summoned active participation from all the members so the proposed
activities would materialize. It also emphasized the assurance that all would
benefit from these activities especially our environment. This also serves as a
gateway to all the officers to be familiar with their tasks and responsibilities
and tasks to help them develop good leadership.

 A Waste Management Program was done through fixing of containers

intended for the storing of plastic bottles to encourage the students and
learn ways on how to segregate waste with the collaboration of the
volunteer students. A collection of plastic bottles is done twice a week to
observe and maintain a clean and green environment in our school. Truly,
this activity would help them realized where their garbage go after they
disposing them.

 June 22, 2018, our School conducted a simultaneous earthquake drill headed
by our School NDRRMC Team. This activity penetrates the urge from the
participants to learn disaster preparedness for their own survival. This activity

promoted the importance of becoming equipped regarding disaster

preparedness for more chances of survival.
 For July 2018, the team said YES in putting up their own vegetable garden not
only for the greening of the school surroundings but also providing
awareness on the nutritional value of home grown vegetables rather than
the commercialized ones. This vegetable garden instills and develops the
students’ value of cultivating and growing their own vegetables. Furthermore,
this will also increase their awareness on hunger issues and actions to
mitigate malnutrition among their family.
 Dengue proliferation was also conducted in July through searching and
destroy the breeding places of mosquitoes. The activity was successfully done
through the collaboration of the YES-O officers and some students
volunteered to be part of the activity. This open the minds and hearts of the
participants in eliminating dengue carrying mosquitoes which in turn reflects
their care and love for their families, friends and loved ones.

Porac, Pampanga through the collaborative effort of the YES-O, LGUs, and
volunteer students with the support of our School Principal Sir Gil V. Tiongco.

environment and serves as an avenue as well in promoting environmental
awareness.

Garden” and our waste management activities which strengthen and changes
the attitudes of the students towards agriculture and waste management.

through illustrations. The activity was concluded upon the announcement of
winners. Simon Dela Cruz was hailed as the winner in the Junior category
while Christopher Ivan Malit for the Senior category.
