I. Read the letter:

Dear Martin,
The journey to Scotland was really boring. First, there was the train journey from
Brighton to Victoria Station in London. That was about an hour. After that, I got the
underground from Victoria Station to Euston Station. That took about twenty-five minutes.
Finally I got the train to Scotland. It was a fast train, but the journey took nearly six hours. It was
so boring! I didn’t sleep because there were two noisy babies and their noisy parents in seats near
me. Fiona and Robert met me at Glasgow Central Station. Their house is fantastic. They’re both
artists and there are pictures everywhere.
The weather here in Scotland is terrible. Yesterday, I went for a swim in the loch- that’s
the Scottish word for lake- and I nearly froze! In the evening, we went tot a party. We did
Scottish dancing until midnight and got very hot. The music was a bit boring, but I still had a
great time. Everyone was very friendly and it was good exercise!
I’m going to be back in Brighton on Thursday evening. See you then.
Best wishes, Lucy.
