This document contains the lesson plan for a Grade 11 General Mathematics class on Logarithmic Equations. The objectives are for students to understand key concepts of logarithmic equations, apply the concepts to solve real-life problems accurately, and represent real-life situations using logarithms. The lesson plan includes motivating students with an activity, presenting examples, having students practice solving equations in pairs and as a group, and assessing student understanding with a seatwork assignment. The teacher reflects on which teaching strategies were most effective and how to help students who struggled.

Motivation
UNLOCKING MAGIC WORDS!
Students will be called at random to evaluate the given
logarithms. They will look for the correct answers in every box
that contains a magic letter, pulling down the arrow beside the
box will unleash the magic letter. The last student who will be
evaluating the logarithms correctly will discover the MAGIC
WORDS.

Magic Words: LOGARITHMIC EQUATIONS

Motivation question:
1. How did you evaluate the give logarithms?
2. What are the different properties of logarithms?

Presenting examples of the The teacher will define Logarithmic Equation and present the
new lesson: following examples;

1. Log4 (2x) = Log410

2. Log3 (2x - 1) = 2
3. Log 3 (4x + 23) - Log 3(x + 2) = 2
4. Log2 (x+1) + Log2 (x-1) = 3
5. Log 3x+2 = Log 5x

Activity: THINK-PAIR SHARE:

Solve the following logarithmic equations.
1. Log x2 = 2
2. Log3 (2x + 5) = 2
3. Log x + Log (x – 9) = 1
4. Logx 16 = 2
5. Log2 x = 3

Process Questions?
a. How do you feel solving with a pair?
b. Have you solve the logarithmic equations using the
properties of logarithms?
c. What are the steps you have discovered in solving
logarithmic equations?

Analysis  What is a Logarithmic Equations?

 How do we Solve Logarithmic Equations?
 Can you name some applications of Logarithms in Real-life
situation?

Abstraction Gather and process students’ answers.

Possible answers.
Logarithmic equation is an equation involving logarithmic
expression.
Steps in Solving Logarithmic Equations:
1. Rewriting to exponential
2. Using logarithmic properties
3. Applying the one-to-one property of logarithmic functions
4. The Zero Factor property: if ab = 0, then a = 0 or b = 0
Applications of Logarithms:
1. Earthquake Magnitude on a Richter scale
2. Sound Intensity
3. Acidity and the pH scale
4. Half-life and decay of bacteria

Application GROUP ACTIVITY: Solve the following logarithmic equations.

1. Log10 (x + 3) = 2
2. Log2 (x + 4) - Log2 (x - 3) = 3
3. Log4 (3x - 4) = 2
4. Log x + Log (x + 3) = 1
5. Log x + Log (x + 9) = 1
6. Log2 (x + 5) - Log2 (x - 2) = 3
7. Log2 (x + 1) + Log2 (x - 1) = 3
8. Log3 (3 – 2x) = 4

Assessment Seatwork No. 7:

Solve the following logarithmic equations;
Log4 (2x) = Log410
Log3 (2x - 1) = 2
Logx 16 = 2
Log2 (x+1) + Log2 (x-1) = 3
Log x2 = 2
