Winston Churchill served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Despite poor academic performance as a youth, he went on to have a career in the British Army and hold several government positions. As Prime Minister during World War II, he helped lead Britain against Nazi Germany when he took office after his predecessor resigned. Though he lost the 1945 election, Churchill refused to give up and was re-elected in 1951, serving until 1955. He displayed strong leadership traits such as an incredible mind, sharp tongue, large vocabulary, patience, ability to analyze failures, and refusal to lose hope.

Prime Minister from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955.
 Success Story
Churchill was not good in studies and because of his poor scores in schools he was rejected in
Oxford and Cambridge against his father’s will. After that his father suggested Churchill pursue
a career in the Army so Churchill got admission in Royal military College in his third attempt.
After his graduation, he joined the British Army and by 1911, got the title of First Lord of the
Admiralty. In World War I his tactics failed which were referred to as Gallipoli disaster and he
took all of the blame and got demotion after that he got so much dis-hearted then he said to a
publisher that “I am finished”. After knowing the actual truth, he went on with the promotions
later on. In World War II he was appointed as lord of morality and became the member of British
War cabinet. During war prime minister resigned and Churchill got appointed. But got defeated
in election in 1945 but he was a person who doesn’t give up easily and got elected again 1951
and stay until he resigned in 1955.
 Important Leadership Traits
He had an incredible, tactical and creative mind, a sharp tongue, a very large vocabulary and he
was mostly use old words in his speeches. He was Patient, Failure analyzer and don’t lose hope.
