Use The Following Commands

Line (L): draws a line from one point to another.

Polyline (PL): Multiple line control points


Home > Draw > Polyline

[Arc / Close / Halfwidth / Length / Undo / Width]

An example of a command

Create a single object with multiple segments,

including lines and arcs

Specify start point

Continue to specify next points,click Close option on the command line to end it

Polyline and Arc

Start the command, specify start point

Input the distance for line (100), press Enter

Click Arc on the command line

Input the distance for arc (50)

Continue with the arc option, input another distance for 2nd arc (50)

Click Line option on the command line to change the arc to line

Input the distance of line (100)

Press Enter twice to end the command

Polyline Width

You can control the width for polyline for each segment

Start the polyline command, specify start point

Current line -width is 0


Click Width on the command line

Specify starting width

Specify ending width , press Enter to use the same width (5)

Input distance for the 1st segment the press Enter (100)

Click width on the command line to change the width again

Input the different starting width for the 2nd segment (15)

Input distance of the 2nd segment (30)

Command: < Ortho on > or F8

Command: _ pline
Specify start point:
Current line-width is 0.0000
Specify next point or [Arc/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: w
Specify starting width <0.0000>: 5
Specify ending width <5.0000>: press Enter
Specify next point or [Arc/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: 100
Specify next point or [Arc/Close/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: w
Specify starting width <5.0000>: 15
Specify ending width <15.0000>: 0
Specify next point or [Arc/Close/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: 30
Specify next point or [Arc/Close/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: press Enter

➢ Undo and Redo


• Undo
Reverses the last action.
1. Choose Edit , Undo.
or
Click the Undo icon.
or
2. Press CTRL + Z.

• Redo
Reverses the effects of a single UNDO or U command.
1. Choose Edit, Redo.
or
Click the Redo icon.
or
2. Press CTRL + Y

➢ Zoom
Increases or decreases the apparent size of objects in the current viewport.
Inside the Menu Bar area select:
[View] > [Zoom] > [All]
Type ZOOM at the command prompt.
Command: Zoom or Z

Additional Zoom options described below. (Try them)

1. Window = zoom in on an area by specifying a window (rectangle) around the


area.
2. Real Time = Interactive Zoom. You can zoom in or out by moving the cursor
vertically up or down while pressing the left mouse button. To stop, press the
Esc key.
3. Previous = returns the screen to the previous display. (Limited to 10
previous displays)
4. Object = zooms in on a selected object
5. In Or Out = moves in 2X or out 2X
6. All = Changes the screen to the size of the drawing limits. If you have
objects outside of the drawing limits, Zoom/All will display them too.
7. Extents = Displays all objects in the drawing file, using the smallest window
possible.

➢ Pan

Shifts the location of a view.


Choose View , Pan.
or

Click the Pan icon


or
Type PAN from the command prompt.

Command: PAN or P

Pan from Navigation Bar


(top right).

❖ command,click with the right mouse button to see the following menu.

➢ Erase
Choose Modify, Erase. or

Click the Erase icon. or


Type ERASE at the command prompt.
Command : ERASE or E
Pick Object at the select object prompt.
Select objects: (pick object)
Press ENTER when you are done choosing objects.
Select objects: ENTER

Delete Key
AutoCAD now supports the standard Windows function of pressing DEL to erase objects.

Select Object to Delete.

Press DEL on the keyboard

➢ Selection Set Options

Direction of Cursor
In AutoCAD there are two option for select items:-

1- Select with move the cursor to right direction Blue shadow, in this command
Only item which is completely within blue shadow will be selected.

2- Select with move the cursor to left direction Green shadow, in this command
All items within green shadow will be selected.

➢ Rectangle :
Rectangle (Rec): draws a rectangle by defining two corners.

Click on the point where you want to place the first corner of a
rectangle or type in x,y coordination for precise impute.

If you type “@” after defining the first corner, you can specify the
second corner by x,y coordination. For example, type @35,25 for
35” x 25” box.

Home > Draw > Rectangle

Draw a rectangle as a single object

Command: _rectang
Specify first corner point or [Chamfer/Elevation/Fillet/Thickness/Width]:
Specify other corner point or [Area/Dimensions/Rotation]: @35,25
press Enter

Choose Draw > Circle. or

Click the Circle icon

1. Choose Draw < Arc.
