SFA Events Message from the President

Jan 14 @ 9:00 am Hello again! It’s a new year and a new opportunity to share with
Special Work Party you what has been happening with SF Archers.

for Cabin Fever
After the vandalism that briefly closed the Blue Range last
Jan 14 @ 12:30 pm November, we had to make the decision to close that range while
General Membership
we assessed the damage and chose a course of action. After
Meeting & Vote
contacting the Pacifica Police Department and taking a few days to
assess the damage, we opened the Blue Range to all Members and
Jan 15
Guests with the stipulation that no vehicles be driven there. Since
Cabin Fever Shoot*

then we have received a considerable amount of rain that has
Feb 5 @ 9:00 am helped smooth out the ruts and regrow the grass. As the Board, we
Next Outreach Program caution members to please be careful if they choose to shoot the
Blue Range. It is very slippery with mud, so please make sure you
Feb 7 @ 7:00 pm
have a good pair of shoes and above all be careful out there.

Board Meeting

We are in the process of getting things ready for the Ken Brown
Feb 11@ 9:00 am
Memorial Cabin Fever Shoot that will be happening this Sunday
Work Party 1/15/2017. We will have the special work party on Saturday to layout

the course and prepare the grounds. Please come and lend a hand.
We appreciate all the volunteers that make these events possible.

Shoots in the Area

In conjunction with the special work party, we will be holding a
January - multiple dates
General Membership Meeting at 12:30 pm to discuss the purchase
CBH/SAA State Indoor*

of a Lawnmower for the range. It is a large purchase that requires
Jan 22
feedback from our members and their approval to purchase. As a
Diablo Winter Hunt 3-D*
club we are in serious need of a dependable quality unit. Please
make every effort to attend and share whatever feelings you may
Feb 12 @ 9:00 am have on this, or any other club issue.

Kings Mountain 3-D

As always, please be safe while you’re out enjoying our beautiful
2017 NCFAA Regionals*
 range.

CABIN FEVER SHOOT

This SUNDAY, JANUARY 15th!
Special Work Party on Saturday at 9:00 am
Our Cabin Fever Shoot is this Sunday, January 15, 2017. Please see if you can make some time in your
schedule to help out. Even though this is a small shoot there is still much to do!

* Saturday we will layout the course and prepare the kitchen and registration/arrow shack.

* Sunday we need help with setup, registration, cooking, scoring and tear down.

We will need trucks for both setup and tear down. There is a sign up board in the clubhouse: please
consider what you can do and sign up so we know what jobs still need to be covered. Three hours
constitute a work party, so you may be able to get credit for 1, 2, or 3 work parties in one day!

NCFAA 2017 Regional Championship Shoot Schedule Released!

The dates and locations for the Northern California Field Archery Association (NCFAA) 2017
Championship shoot schedule were released this week. See attached flyer and preregister on the
Northwoods Bowmen’s website: http://northwoodsbowmensclub.org/2017-ncfaa-regional-shoot-
march-5-2017/. They will not be sending out registration forms - you can signup online for all four
shoots. Please note, due to the
scheduling challenges last year, we have
created two time slots for the combined
State/Regional 900 that SFA hosts. The
NCFAA will soon have a dedicated
website, but in the meantime, like their
page on Facebook to keep up-to-date:
https://www.facebook.com/ncfaa/.

CBH/SAA 2017 Indoor Championships

There’s still time to compete in the CBH/SAA 2017 Indoor Championships
happening in January at an indoor archery range near you. It’s a 450 round - 20
yards - 15 Ends and 3 arrows each end. For more information, or just to see what
other events are happening in California, go to the CBH/SAA website at
www.cbhsaa.net.

Brandi’s Corner - Happy 2017

365 new days. 365 new chances. Countless new arrows to shoot!

I have been told over and over again that each arrow should be shot as if it’s a new arrow, the
only arrow. This is difficult to achieve when your last shot fell apart or you flung an arrow across
the field when you tried to let down. In “One Arrow, One Life: Zen, Archery, Enlightenment”
Kenneth Kushner proposes that “…every arrow should be shot as if it’s the only arrow on Earth;
as though one’s life were counting on it.” Here’s to shooting every arrow this year as if our lives
are counting on it!

Got a fun photo or a cool archery tip? The Arrow will be sent out monthly on the ~15th, with
the deadline for submissions on the 10th. Your contributions will make The Arrow even better! If
you have scores or a fun photo to share, please send it to [email protected]
