DATAS

The document proposes the development of a new regional airport in San Pascual, Batangas to accommodate growing air travel demand, support economic growth, and address congestion in Metro Manila. Key objectives include establishing an airport that promotes local culture through tropical design, provides accessibility and amenities, and meets regulatory standards. The site is suitable due to its location, access to utilities, and soil type, though construction may require modifying the terrain and relocating some buildings and infrastructure. The airport could boost tourism and industry in Batangas while easing overcrowding elsewhere, but may also impact agricultural land and increase noise levels.

amenities.

- To design an airport that complies with the requirement of Civil Aviation Authority of

the Philippines (CAAP).

MAJOR PROBLEMS

- What design approach will be used for the proposed project?

- How will the proposed project ensure safety and security of the airport?

- What planning strategies will be utilized in minimizing the use of energy and the

environmental impacts of the development?

MINOR PROBLEMS

- What innovative amenities will be added in the project proposal?

- What sustainable local materials will be used for the project?

- Does the utilities such as water and electricity can accommodate the demand

needed for the development?

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

“Architecture reflects society.”

DESIGN CONCEPT

Balisong + Bayanihan

One of the things often associated with Batangueños is balisong. The folding pocket
knife that is proudly Philippine-made is among the popular products of Taal. The
word literary means broken horn, from the words bali, which means to break and
sung, meaning horn of the water buffalo. Balisong, a.k.a. butterfly knife, is
considered a symbol of Batangueño courage.

"Kapit-bisig" is a gesture often used to represent a Filipino trait called
"bayanihan". The Bayanihan is a Filipino custom derived from the Tagalog
word “bayan” for nation, town or community. It sets aside cultural, political,
and other differences to show unity and compassion mostly in times of
calamity. On the day when Taal Volcano wrecked havoc to nearby residents
of Batangas, Laguna and Cavite, Filipinos showed that Bayanihan spirit
remains alive on amid disaster.
