PLC (Product life cycle)

Product life cycle has four different stages. First stage is the introductory stage in in which
product production cost is very high and very low profits. Second stage is the growth stage in
which sales and product production increases. Third is the maturity stage in this stage product
sale is on its peak and its penetration in the market is also very high. The fourth and the last stage
is the declining stage in this stage sales of the product decreasing continuously and its start
declining.

Examples:

Introductory Stage:

Self-driving car which is also known as driverless car or autonomous vehicle this is in the
introductory stage because they have very few customers. Volvo company have launched some
driverless cars. Uber is promoting this concept and they are more focusing to launch this in UAE.

Growth Stage:

Electric cars are in growth stage because pollution is the main problem of every country and
every country is trying to solve this problem by replace petrol and diesel cars with electric cars.
Pakistan is also promoting this concept and take some steps towards electric cars concept. They
also set some charging points in Pakistan. Tesla is one of the company who start this concept
when they start they have free charging points in America so their customers can charge free of
cost from their charging points. They introduce different models Tesla model S, Tesla model P
and the latest model Tesla roadster which has to be launched in 2021 and that provides the best
range.

Maturity Stage:

Petrol cars are now in maturity stage because they develop their market and now their sales are at
the peak and their market penetration is very high. There are many companies who are making
petrol cars Toyota, Volkswagen, Suzuki, Volvo, Honda, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc.

Declining Stage:
Diesel cars are in declining stage because they are not suitable for environment and they play a
major role in air pollution. Many countries are trying to removed diesel cars from their countries.
Which results company’s diesel cars sales are declining so they are more making petrol and
electric cars instead of diesel cars.

BCG Matrix

BCG charts are work as a business planning tool that helps to make the key business decisions
by analyzing the business or product units. It shows the market share and product category
according to the market competition. The matrix is divided into four categories:
Star:

Stars are the ones who have more shares in the market and have higher growth prospects in the
market. Like the latest products that are innovative and can capture high market share, BCG
Matrix is a star product. Like our products, we introduce PayPal services into our products. It has
engulfed the entire market as PayPal service is not available in Pakistan and people use Pioneer
card to use PayPal. We offer in our application So that all freelancers can easily get their money
back. Pakistan has billions in transactions with freelancers which helps us capture more market
share and faster growth prospects. This will increase the market share with higher production
growth rate and because we consider our products in the category of star.
Cash Cow:

Cash cows are the ones who have big market share but their market growth is very low as they
have reached the level of maturity. Our product has not gone under the cash cow because our
product has a new improved feature that will get a bigger share of the market.

Question Mark:

These are the times when high growth has low market share. The reason is that they are small
against their rivals. They have the potential to grow the market. They have two reasons, either
they will become stars or they will become matrix dogs. If they increase their market share, they
will come to the stars with a question mark, but on the other hand, if they fail to capture more
and more shares, they will move from the question mark to dogs, which will lose their demand.
Our products do not fall into this category because EasyPay has already taken over a large
portion of the mobile wallet in the market and with this new feature, it will gain more market
share as it has a higher rate of growth from the market can get.
Dog:

Dogs are those whose market share is low and whose growth rate is low. The PLC of the product
has decreased and no one wants to invest in this line anymore. Examples include 100W heavy
bulbs, tube lights, etc.
