according to socio economic classification. She took weight of 20 children belonging to five
different types of socio economic class. Then, she performed ANOVA using SPSS. Draw the
inference according to following practical ANOVA table? Test whether the five classes are

6. Nineteen subjects are assigned among four experimental groups. Each group is fed a different
diet. The data are weight of subject (in Kg), after being raised on these diets. We wish to
know whether the weights of experimental subjects are same for all four diets.

10. A teacher wishes to test three different teaching methods, I, II, III. To do this, three groups of
5 students each are chosen at random and each group is taught by a different method. The
same examination is then given to all the students and he marks are obtained as follows:

Meth 75 6 7 5 7

Determine at (a) 0.05 (b) 0.01 level whether there is a significant difference in the
teaching method. [Ans: (a) Fcal = 4.68 > Ftab(α = 0.05) at (2, 12) d. f. = 3.88. then H1 is
accepted.(b) Fcal = 4.68 < Ftab(α = 0.01) at (2, 12) d. f. = 6.93. then H₀ is accepted.]

C 97 9 8 8 8 7 64
7 7 7 4 4

Does the difference in the sample means appear to be due to chance variation or is there
significant evidence to indicate that not all population means are the same. Use 5% level
of significance. [Ans: Fcal = 7.608 > Ftab(α = 0.05) at (2, 15) d. f.= 3.68 then H1 is accepted.]
