Individual Assignment

Please read the instructions carefully before answering the questions. You may refer to any available
references including online sources (google, books, library, etc.).

Write a report based on the following scenarios or questions:

1. There are several types of basic whole-house mechanical ventilation system. Using appropriate
illustrations, briefly explain the following types of whole-house mechanical ventilation system:

a) Supply system
(4 marks)

b) Balanced system
(4 marks)

2. The integration of mechanical ventilation system with cooling mechanism can be referred to as
air-conditioning system. Centralized air-conditioning system is one of the types of air-
conditioning system which is usually installed in a large building.

a) Briefly explain about the system.

b) With the aid of appropriate picture, describe the function of each the following centralize
air-conditioning components:

i. Air Handling Unit (AHU)


(4 marks)
ii. Chiller System
(4 marks)
iii. Ducting system
(4 marks)
iv. Variable Air Volume (VAV)
(4 marks)

REPORT FORMAT
1. This is online assignment and must be written in English using MS Word format.
2. Must use Times New Roman, Font Size 12 and 1.5 line spacing. Paper size A4.
3. Illustration of figures can be created using any illustration/drawing software or scanned hand
drawing. Pictures from any sources including online sources are allowed.

ONLINE SUBMISSION
You should save the report in ‘PDF file’ format with file name (Namelist No_Matric
No~Assignment) and submit it online to email address ([email protected]) the latest by
Tuesday (21 April 2020).
