TMS320C6416 DSP Starter Kit: Designed By: Dawar Awan
This document summarizes the specifications and programming of a TMS320C6416 DSP Starter kit designed by Dawar Awan from Oct 2012 to Feb 2013. The starter kit contains a 1GHz TMS320C6416 DSP, 16MB of DRAM, 512KB of flash memory, an AIC23 stereo codec, 4 LEDs and DIP switches. It can be programmed using TI's Code Composer Studio or LabVIEW. Two tasks are described: 1) assigning different tones to DIP switches, and 2) acquiring audio with noise added depending on the switched DIP switch.

TMS320C6416 DSP Starter kit
Designed by : Dawar Awan
Oct 2012 – Feb 2013 CECOS College of Engineering and IT [email protected] Specifications A Texas Instruments TMS320C6416 DSP operating at 1GHz Delivering up to 8000 MIPS An AIC23 stereo codec 16 Mbytes of synchronous DRAM 512 Kbytes of non-volatile Flash memory 4 user accessible LEDs and DIP switches Configurable boot options Standard expansion connectors for daughter card use Single voltage power supply (+5V)
Programming TMS320C6416 DSK using LabVIEW The method/steps are the same as those for SPEEDY33 Only DSK6416 should be selected as the target type, this time
Task 1. Program the DSK so that by turning on a DIP switch a tone could be heard, assign four different frequencies to the four DIP switches. 2. Program the DSK so that an audio signal can be acquired and heard at the same time but if a DIP switch is turned ON, a noise should be added to the audio. Assign four different noise patterns to the four DIP switches.
