12. a) A machine producing electrical components occasionally makes faulty ones. In a batch
of 20 such components, 5 are found to be faulty. A sample of 3 of this batch is taken and
examined. Find probability that;
i) It contains exactly one faulty
ii) It contains faulty components. (6marks)

b) The life time of batteries produced by certain factory is normally distributed. Out of 10000
batteries selected at random, 668 have life time less than 130 hours and 228 have life time more
than 200hours.

i) Find the mean and standard deviation
