n places following the decimal point.
<n> Indicates a single 8-bit byte. When the contents are numeric, it indicates a
hexadecimal numeric value; i.e. <84> represents hexadecimal 84 (132
decimal). When the contents are capital letters, it represents a named ASCII
control character; i.e. <SP> represents a space character, <CR> represents a
carriage return character and <LF> represents a line feed character.

1 Overview
This document introduces the REF TEK RTQT_View, an application designed
to allow viewing of REF TEK data. REF TEK/PASSCAL data files are binary in
nature. The data is grouped in 1024 byte packets. There are a number of
different packet types. Some packets (i.e. State-of-Health) are mostly plain
text. Other packets (like data) are mostly binary.
With a decoded packet displayed, the user has options available to move
through the file displaying packets of the same type. Displaying the packets
in its raw binary state is available. Event data and packets can be displayed
in graphs as well.
Note: At the present time RTQT_View runs only on the Windows™, Linux and
MacOS.
When displaying a graph, the status line at the bottom of the display shows
the current mouse pointer position. The values are channel number, X axis
actual time, X axis relative time (from event start) and Y axis value in the
current selected display format (counts, volts, G’s).
There are several sources for the conversion information. The A/D volts per
count is measured at REFTEK and stored in each A/D board when built. The
A/D number of bits is stored in each A/D board when built. The A/D full scale
volts are dependent on A/D board options and are stored in each A/D board
when built.
The sensor values are supplied by the sensor manufacturer. For SM units
with internal sensors the data is programmed into a serial EPROM that the
REF TEK 130 reads on boot. For the MC-12 and MC-18 units the user will
have to enter the manufacturers’ data at installation time. See the MC-12/18
User manual for information entry details.
8. Select the destination folder (reftek) and select the Copy button.

Note: These instructions assume your CD-ROM is mounted as /cdrom. If this is not
the case, substitute the actual path in these instructions.
$ cd /cdrom/RTQTView/macos.i86
3. Run the install script.
$ install
To run RTQT_View:
11.Select the Event Header and select Asci to view the Asci.
8 Viewing a Rawfile
The following screens show Rtqt_view and explain what each screen is
used for by using example steps to open a file.
1. Start the Rtqt_view application and the following display will open.
2. Use the File > Open Raw Files drop-down menu to open and view a file
contents.
6. The file selected will open and display the filename and location.

Note: The file classifications at the bottom of the display reveal the supported
viewing formats of the data page.
5. Select the File Details tab to return to the table of contents to view another part
of the file.
1. Select the drop-down Plot menu and select the Select Components command.
2. From the list select the desired channels or components to display in the graph
by selecting the check boxes.
With these enabled or disabled the window is updated as shown below with
the current option selected.
1. Select the Scale By option on the Plot menu to enable the Individual Trace
option.
1. Select the Scale By option on the Plot menu to enable the Range Scaling
option.
1. Select the Scale By option on the Plot menu to enable the Absolute Scale
option.
12.3 Amplitude
Trace amplitude may be increased or decreased by using the two commands
on the Plot pull-down menu.
To Decrease Ampltude by ½:
2. The screen redraws with the display updated for Common Time.
2. The screen redraws with the screen updated for individual time.
2. The screen redraws with the units changed to view data in raw digital counts.
Counts updated from cursor position are displayed on the bottom of the window.
Range, Mean, and status line Y values are in counts.
2. The volts per count conversion is automatically read from the Event Header
packet (a true Bit Weight field).
Note: Volts updated from cursor position are displayed on the bottom of the
window. Range, Mean, and status line Y values are in volts.
2. The window refreshes to view the data with G’s as the units of measurement.
Note: G’s updated from cursor position are displayed on the bottom of the window.
12.9 Zooming
It is easy to zoom in to an area of data by using the left mouse button to
select a window area in one data window, and dragging across to select a
new viewing window.
12.9.1 Zoom In
1. Select the Plot -> Zoom In command and select the left boundary of the area to
zoom in. A marker will mark the left boundary and a new marker will appear.
2. Move the new marker that appears to the right and select the right boundary.
12.10 Measure
To measure amplitude or time
Note the measurement in the area shown below in units of time and amplitude.
2. Select the desired Filter Type and enter in the desired settings
3. Select the OK button to redraw the display with the settings applied.
1. Select the Integrate Signal option on the Math menu to enable this option.
1. Select the Differentiate Signal option on the Math menu to enable this
option.
2. The screen will redraw with the differentiate signal option applied.
14 Window Menu
The window menu allows the user to switch between graph and data views
as well as open the file details window.
3. Select the Graph window to return to the graph view of the selected Event
Data.
15 Options Menu
The Option menu allows the appearance to be changed for the display when
running the RTQT_View program.
At any time uswed the Save Options menu to save the color changes as
defaults.
1. Select the Font option to change the font on all text in the graphic window.
2. Select the desired Font, Font Style and Size and select the OK button to
accept and apply the changes to the display text.
1. To change the color of the traces in graphic mode select the Trace color menu
item in the option menu.
2. Change the color of the traces and select the OK button to redraw the displayed
traces with the new color.
1. To change the color of the trace after a filter in graphic mode select the Math
color menu item in the option menu.
2. Change the color of the math trace and select the OK button to redraw the trace
with the new color.
15.4 Background
1. To change the color of the graphic mode background select the Background
color menu item in the option menu.
2. Change the color of the background and select the OK button to redraw the
displayed background with the new color.
