I have here a picture.

Can you identify the

triangles shown in the
picture? Yes, teacher.
Now, let’s check if how
many triangles found in the
picture.

So, there are 15 triangles

found in the picture.
3. Review
Ok kids, Let’s have a review
of our past lesson about
triangles. Answer it with
YES or NO.
Are you ready? Yes, teacher.
1. Does an isosceles triangle Yes, An isosceles triangle has 2

B. Lesson Proper

1.0 Presentation
Now, look at the different
figures. Can you name each
one? Yes, teacher.

Square, rhombus, rectangle,

trapezoid, and parallelogram

What do you call all these These figures are called

figures? quadrilaterals.

1.1 Modeling
Now, this time we are
going to learn about
quadrilaterals. As we go on
with our lesson I want you
to listen and observe
carefully so that you can
understand what the lesson
is all about. Are you all
ready? Yes, teacher.
As we look at the word
quadrilaterals, the first four
letters are quad it means
four lateral means sides.
So we are talking about
two dimensional objects.
Shapes that has four sides.
And a quadrilaterals are
polygons with four sides
and four angles.
Now, here are the different
kinds quadrilaterals:
First is Parallelogram. It is
a quadrilateral whose
opposite sides are parallel
and equal.
Second is Rectangle. The
rectangle is a
parallelogram whose
opposite sides are parallel
and equal in length. It also
has four right angles.
Third is Square. The
square shares
characteristics with both
the rectangle and the
rhombus. It has four equal
sides and four right angles.
Fourth is Trapezoid. It is a
quadrilateral that has
exactly one pair of parallel
sides.
And the last one is the
Rhombus. As I mention a
couple minutes ago, a
square is also called a
rhombus that’s because a
rhombus is a parallelogram
with four equal sides. It has
no right angles.

So, let’s go ahead and lets

give it a try now.
- What polygon that is a
quadrilateral has 4 right
angles and all the sides
are equal?
That’s right! It’s a square. square
- Allright what if it has 4
right angles but the
sides are not all equal?
And that would be
rectangle. rectangle
- Okey, so 2 sets of
parallel sides and the
sides are all equal but
they are not all right
angles.
And that would be a
parallelogram. parallelogram
- And what about two sets
of parallel sides and the
sides are all equal but
they are not 90 degrees
angles.
And that would be a
rhombus. rhombus
- Okey, last one. Only 1
set of parallel sides and
sides are not all equal.
Remember 1 set of
parallel sides.
And that would be a
trapezoid. trapezoid

1.2 Guided Practice

This time we will have an activity. Are

you ready? Yes, teacher.

Activity 1
Identify and write the name
of the following quadrilaterals:
1.
Square

2. Rhombus

3. Rectangle

4. Trapezoid

5. parallelogram

Activity 2
Draw and describe the
following quadrilaterals listed below:

1. Rhombus -2 sets of parallel sides

-Sides are ALL equal
2. Trapezoid -Only 1 set of parallel
sides
-Sides are NOT all
equal

- 4 right angles
3. Square - All sides are equal

- 2 sets of
4. Parallelogram parallel sides
-Sides are not
ALL equal

- - 4 right angles
5. Rectangle - Sides are not all
equal

Activity 3
Answer the following questions
with yes or no.

1. Is a parallelogram a rectangle? Yes. A rectangle is considered a

special case of
a parallelogram because a
parallelogram is a quadrilateral with
2 pairs of opposite, equal and
parallel sides.

2. Is a trapezoid a parallelogram? No. A trapezoid has one pair of

parallel sides and a
parallelogram has two pairs of
parallel sides.

3. Is a square a rectangle? Yes. So a square is a special kind

of rectangle, it is one where all the
sides have the same length. Thus
every square is a rectangle because
it is a quadrilateral with all four right
angles. However not
every rectangle is a square, to be
a square its sides must have the
same length.

4. Is a rhombus a square? No. In a square there are 4 right

angles and a rhombus don’t have 4
right angles.

5. Is a rectangle a parallelogram? Yes. A rectangle is considered a

special case of
a parallelogram because: A
parallelogram is
a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of
opposite, equal and parallel sides. A
rectangle is a quadrilateral with 2
pairs of opposite, equal and parallel
sides
1.3 Summarizing the lesson:
A quadrilateral is a polygon
with 4 sides and 4 angles. It
can be classified as a square, a
rhombus, a rectangle, a
parallelogram, and a trapezoid.

1.4 Independent Practice

This time , I will give you an

activity to work on your own,
You can answer it on a sheet

right triangle has a right angle which measures 90°.
Good job kids! Now you know the different kinds of triangles.
Now, I have a question.
Children, are you taking a bath everyday?
Why we need to take a bath everyday? Yes. We need to take a bath everyday
because it makes us clean and healthy.
After taking a bath, how do you dry your wet body?
What do you use to dry your body? Yes. Correct! We dried our wet body by using
a towel.
What is its shape? Yes. that’s right. The shape of a towel is Rectangle.
Modelling:
Now, look at the different figures. Can you name each one? Ok, the first is….
