Internet&network Security

The document discusses several key topics related to computer and network security: The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that uses protocols to link devices worldwide. The World Wide Web allows users to view and navigate between interlinked web pages containing text, images, videos and other media using a web browser. Computer security techniques protect valuable information and services from unauthorized access or damage. Network security integrates multiple defenses in networks and at network layers to authorize access and block threats through policies and controls. Malware attacks are designed to destroy or gain unauthorized access over targeted systems, and most malware self-replicates to infect connected systems and external devices very quickly.

INTERNET

The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that uses the Internet protocol

suite to link devices worldwide.

WWW
The World Wide Web (WWW) or W3 or simply the Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents
accessed via the Internet. One can view Web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other
multimedia, and navigate between them via hyperlinks using a Web Brower such as Google Chrome,
Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firebox etc.

COMPUTER SECURITY
In computing, computer security refers to techniques by which valuable information and services
of a computer network are protected from publication, tampering or collapse by unauthorized
activities or untrustworthy individuals.

NETWORK

A network, in computing, is a group of two or more devices that can communicate. In practice, a
network is comprised of a number of different computer systems connected by physical and/or
wireless connections.

Network Security
Network security is an integration of multiple layers of defenses in the network and at the
network. Policies and controls are implemented by each network security layer. Access to
networks is gained by authorized users, whereas, malicious actors are indeed blocked from
executing threats and exploits. Our world has presently been transformed by digitization,
resulting in changes in almost all our daily activities. It is essential for all organizations to protect
their networks if they aim at delivering the services demanded by employees and customers. This
eventually protects the reputation of your organization. With hackers increasing and becoming
smarter day by day, the need to utilize network security tool becomes more and more impotent.

Network attacks
Common Types of Network Attacks. Without security measures and controls in place, your data
might be subjected to an attack. Some attacks are passive, meaning information is monitored;
others are active, meaning the information is altered with intent to corrupt or destroy the data or
the network itself.
VIRUS
A computer virus is a type of computer program that, when executed, replicates itself by
modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. When this replication succeeds,
the affected areas are then said to be "infected" with a computer virus. Computer viruses never
occur naturally. They are always induced by people. Once created and released, however, their
diffusion is not directly under human control. After entering a computer, a virus attaches itself to
another program in such a way that execution of the host program triggers the action of the virus
simultaneously. It can self-replicate, inserting itself onto other programs or files, infecting them
in the process.

Malware
Malware attack is one of the most severe cyberattacks that is specifically designed to destroy or
gain unauthorized access over a targeted computer system. Most malware is self-replicating, i.e.,
when it infects a particular system, it gains entry over the internet and from thereon, infects all
the systems connected to the internet in the network. An external endpoint device if connected,
will also get infected. It works exceptionally faster than other types of malicious content.
