 Stigma can cause isolation

 If someone is being discriminated for their race/belief/social status, and their family shares those
qualities, they can start to feel embarrassed of them
 Family/friends can feel ignored and maybe blame the person
 encourage people to step up and be confident
 education about the topic
 there is no shame in being in these situations
 being accepting to everyone

1. How was Michael stigmatized? 


 When he got injured, he felt like he let the whole team down and a few years before he lost his best
friend where they did everything together it took a huge toll on his life. He asked himself the questions
“if u should have noticed more or could you have done more”.

2. How did he battle through his challenges?


 After the situation with his friend he realised that he could make a small difference to some people, as
time went on, he learned to deal with it more.

3. What support did he have to assist him?


 he had the support of his fellow teammates, family, friends and the state of mind project.
 Each week the players do a mental recovery and clearing the mind.
 Using the resilience journal

4. How do you think this support helped him?


 Realising that physical health is important but training your mind to be stronger as well

5. What advice would you have for someone in a situation of struggle?


 To never give up or lose faith in what your passionate about
