“KASING-KASING”
This is the first time seeing this painting titled “KASING-KASING” which
means heart in Cebuano. At first, I am intrigued by the composition in which I keep
observing the painting for a while. Seeing the subject, the heart at the center makes
me wonder why the color stands out, also the style been used in the painting is
themed by using a Mandala art style. Consequently, the artist restricts himself to
drawing angles and straight lines and angled shapes. Moreover, the materials used
by the artist are probably acrylic, that’s why the painting is reflecting some of the light
that shines through it that makes the whole painting very vibrant. At the center, the
heart is painted with different vibrant colors that make it stand out. On the sides of
the heart is see some flowers and curvy patterns, also the colors of it are indulging in
darkness as it distanced from the core.
When talking about the visual components of the painting it mainly uses
rippling and geometric designs to form the image. Nevertheless, this pattern creates
an abstract imagery concept that is very noticeable at first glance. Accordingly, the
use of color is very creative as we can see the shades of the painting can be
observed as it goes farther from the core. And, it also uses playful colors to
emphasize the subject in the middle. Also, the thickness of the lines is different in
every part of the painting which creates significance on every part.
Upon observing the painting for a while, I’ve put myself into thinking if I would
be the artist of this painting what would I feel upon creating such art. Consequently,
seeing the heart as the only thing vibrates on the image to when the other part
becomes monotone as it goes farther away from the center symbolizes the loss of
something. Also having the heart as the only lively and colorful symbolizes hope.
Besides, the heart symbolizes life in which it gives an overall message about a
colorful life out of the darkest world.
Overall, I am sad but also happy about seeing this painting. Because
nowadays I am currently feeling stressed about the happenings of the world. As I
look up everywhere, I just see news about sad things that are currently happening in
this pandemic which millions and millions of people are starving and dying. Seeing
this painting makes me feel happy because it reminds me to be high-spirited at all
times. This painting gives meaning to us that we need to fight and never lose hope,
be the heart that radiates good energy to everyone. Enjoy life and be happy.
