     To share the knowledge about the engine can’t start


     

    Problem/ Complaint

    Engine can’t start

    Symptom

    Engine can’t start and display the error code 636-2 (crank speed sensor) at the monitor

    Troubleshooting /Service Step

    . After prepared for engine test run. Crank the engine but can’t start the engine. So checked the batteries it was 12.4V
    (half charge) and checked the errors from the monitor, found the error code 636-2 (crank speed sensor). Changed the
    crank speed sensor with new from our office then restart the engine but the error code 636-2 does not disappeared
    and engine oil pressure was zero. Checked the main harness and engine harness, electric circuit for oil pressure was
    not good. So changed the new engine harness then start the engine but it can’t start. Doubt the batteries and main
    harness. So changed the new batteries from airman and jump the electrical circuit for crank speed sensor that contact
    the crank speed sensor and ECM with external cable then restart the engine, this time engine can start and error code
    was disappeared. Repaired the engine harness then changed the harness and start the engine it was ok.

    Analysis

    The cause of this problem was controller means ECM recorded the 636-2 error code and batteries charging low like
    that this problem can be happen mechanical fault (timing adjustment), fuel system (supply pump, common rail and
    injector) and electrical system and many other conditions.
